Problem with the ECP and All 4 promo after An Extra Slice - The audio clearly dipped in volume, but no CA was present

Maybe it was a pre-recorded announcement mentioning today's cancelled F1 qualifying coverage, so they didn't play it out.

In the early days of C4, from 1982 until 1993, the regional ITV companies sold the channel 4 airtime. Did they, the regional ITv companies, have a separate ad playout suite from their own transmission suite for broadcasting on ITV? If so, once C4 sold its own airtime from 1993 onwards, what happened to those playout suites, at say HTW West, STV, Tyne Tees?

LWT had a separate transmission suite for C4, which temporarily became the home of LWT’s main channel output whilst the LNN transmission suite was built to come into use after 1993. The original C4 suite eventually evolved into being the main TLS Lines area into/out of the building.

IIRC the suite at HTV was used for Westcountry.

We had quite a lengthy thread about regional C4 as playout earlier this year

Slightly related to pres - I've just spotted this press release announcing that the channels Channel 4 sells ads for (which includes UKTV and BT Sport) will use Sky AdSmart for targeted ads: https://www.4sales.com/latest/2019-09/4-sales-news/sky-and-channel-4-broaden-industry-leading-partnership

HTV had two of course, one for C4 Mendip, another for S4C. I think the S4C one was used for Westcountry, presumably S4C took (playout/technical) charge of their ads in Nov/Dec 1992, to allow the HTV suite to be repurposed ?

Was the Mendip one in Bristol and the S4C one in Cardiff (eg HTV Wales and HTV West)?

In The TV Booth Podcast Trish Bertram discusses how LWT would contribute its own continuity to Channel 4 in the early days.

About 33 minutes in. She describes "Pres 2" as being a training area which was also used for Channel 4.
what, rob and Steve in Pudsey gave kudos

I'm told that by the early 90s, all pres and playout for West, Wales, and S4C ads was centralised at Culverhouse Cross ?

Later in the 90s, HTV West playout was moved to Meridian, but HTV Wales remained at CC

I think everything was based in Cardiff as they invested heavily in playout not long after Culverhouse Cross opened. I believe they were the first UK broadcaster to have automated playout of cassettes, which they initially tested on their night service before rolling it out.

Yes, Sony BetaCarts, and probably later LMS ?
