Channel 4

I think the new idents are brilliant but altough the new presentation alongside them are very good they do not seem to match the idents. Perhaps I am just too used to the old white presentation.

Anyway as for 'searching for the '4' on the new idents it is quite easy, many mistake the wrongs parts of the graphics as part of the '4' just like I did when I first saw the 'Scrapyard' ident I thought the blue car was part of the '4' but as you will see below, this is not the case.

Any chance you could post them screencaps without the 4 superimposed over the top too so it's a bit clearer (or less clear perhaps) where the 4 actually is.

I agree that some of the new idents are a bit of a disapointment, the airoplane one especially for me. It just doesn't seem to have the same effort as the others. Having said that, it's only a dissapointment because so many of the others are so good, and it's only in comparison to these that it's a bit of a let down. When you have such brilliant idents, there's always expectations when new ones come along. I personally think the Blackpool one is the best of the 3 new ones, the scrapyard one a bit dodgey, mainly because if the week, sagging 'crossbar' bit, and the blue car at the bottom which you think it part of the form up but isn't.

With the other new presentation too, there's something I don't quite like about it, certain bit's don't 'sit' right for me, and I think for me it's to do with the fact they've used two colours (as aposed the old style of all white) on some presentation. There's some I've seen where they have a white on grey and the edge between the two colours looks jagged, though this could just be on my TV. Overall I like the style though, and the bumpers where just one coloiur is used I think look great and are a good progression of the previous style.

I like the new idents - and although the 4s are harder to spot, I think it works fine as we've had this presentation style for years now, so people expect 'there's a hidden 4 in there somewhere', and it's a Fed-Ex arrow thing of when you know it's quite obvious.

Thanks. Blackpool definitely works the best for me, and sits alongside the other idents nicely - as does Scrapyard to be fair. And yes, the 4's may not be perfect, but I think I prefer that too the fairly flat but fully formed 4 we have in the airplanes logo.

Wonder if any of the existing set may be withdrawn.

I love the updated presentation for Channel 4 and the new idents are great pieces of film, but I can't make out the '4' very well at all! Defeats the purpose of them a bit for me.

The idents are fine, it's the new 4 with a line going across is that I don't get. What is it, it doesn't seem to magnify or reflect the '4', it just looks like a grey line going across the logo

"We're going to symbolise how our channel reflects challenging, thought-provoking and often edgy programming by putting an edge through the 4"....

... Come on TV Execs, I could think of reams of this sort of stuff for the right price!

It's not symbolising budget cuts then!

And? It looks nice and swish, is that not enough?
