Channel 4

Freeview reshuffled on the 13th May:

E4 - 28 > 13
Film4 - 15 > 14
Channel 4+1 - 13 > 15
More 4 - 14 > 18
E4 + 1 - 29 > 28
4Music -18 > 29

Now Channel 4 owns the BOX network they are clearly taking advantage in promoting there own channels. I agree with some of these changes like E4 but unsure about others.

That seems a bit user-hostile to me, or perhaps more accurately 'viewer-hostile'. Changing around all of those channel numbers just for a slight advantage in EPG positions… not to mention how annoying it'll be to now have E4 +1 so far away from E4 when it was previously right next to it.

I will defiantly make a stand, and NOT perform a rescan. I’ve still got BBC News on Ch 80 on the spare bedroom telly

That's awfully done - simply swapping C4+1 and E4 would have been most user friendly. Was no need for Film4 and More4 to be moved. They had no issue chucking E4 down the EPG when C4+1 launched so I don't really see it's going to benefit much from jumping up to 13.

I would do this to the EPG, with this, C4 should also buy two channel slots (16 and 22). Ideal World would move to 31, QVC to 29 and 5Spike to 40.

Channel4 +1 - 13
E4 - 14
E4+1 - 15
More4 - 16 (wouldn’t hurt to buy LCN16)
4Music - 18
Film4 - 22
Film4+1 - 28 (4seven stays at 47!)
QVC - 29 (to make up for the move)
Ideal World - 31
5Spike - 40


However I do like the new EPG numbers, E4’s ratings might improve with the move, unless it’s to get more watching Adult Swim

Suddenly C4's moves don't seem so bad.

Your idea of moving 4seven from 47 is mind boggling.

I would have put E4 on 13, More 4 on 14 and kept Film 4 on 15. Then 4 Music could have stayed on 18 and the +1's can be wherever they end up. Keeps the main channels as high up as possible.

Channel 4 aren't gonna buy QVC's slot and QVC would probably never give it up anyway so the idea of them having 16 and buying 17 from UKTV are insane.

I think C4+1 is regionalised on Freeview so needs to be kept on a high number to justify its higher costs to run, it wouldn’t rate as well if it was dumped further down the EPG. Meanwhile E4 has been rating abysmally lately so it’s right that they elevate it higher when they’ve got a better slot for it. Overall the changes make perfect sense.
