Having become the UK's first ever DEAF announcer doing Broadcasting Continuity Announcing at any major TV/Radio broadcaster, Chris is hoping this video will inspire other aspiring young people from all backgrounds & mixed abilities to start a career in the Creative Media Industry pic.twitter.com/ccXhFoeq13
This isn't going to be a very popular post with some. But I think if your disability means you're not going to be very good at the job, maybe someone else should get that job. If they were serious about inclusion and helping deaf people, rather than just trying to generate positive publicity they'd be signing the continuity.
I'm sure blind traffic wardens would be popular but they wouldn't do a very good job.

I think Channel 4 might be going with the 'different types of voices' angle, but I agree with you.
I understand Jon's point, but while he not be as well spoken as some other CA's, there are some truly obnoxious voices from able-bodied announcers nowadays. In that respect, I don't think he's bad at his job. I know you haven't explicitly said that, but I figure that's what you're implying.
I've heard Chris before and never thought that his delivery was bad. Different, yes.
Reminds me of those on DS who have a go at Lucy Martin for finding her stump "distracting", when she's perfectly capable of doing her job presenting the weather forecast on the Beeb. Not that Jon hasn't been disrespectful in this instance.

I thought he was a farmer..... first time I heard him on More 4 , but london lite is right his delivery isn't bad. Completely Different yes... but that's what Channel 4 is.... Different... and by using chris its being different,....
I’ve always found it odd how C4 was launched to develop unique, original programmes and alternative viewpoints for underserved audiences and help develop an indie sector... and yet the very first programme they chose to air was a fairly run of the mill quiz show bought in from France that had already been tried out on air and was made by one of the dominant ITV companies! It wasn’t exactly a statement piece!

Watch this clip from the controller that explains it all...

And of course, the 'Down struggled for viewers at first, to the point that Richard was going to be sacked - before John Meade received that telex from Paul Fox...
