And of course FG had a break in its production history when Fox cancelled it and then uncancelled it two and a half years later. That undoubtedly helped the show in the long term, otherwise I suspect it would have just done a Simpsons and just fall through the floor quality wise far quicker than it has done.

Box set sales were a deciding factor in recommissioning Family Guy. Even now, despite the slight decline in the quality of the writing, FG still has a huge fanbase who pay for them and the merchandise. I wouldn't be surprised if the overseas rights sales are still pretty high too?

It's said that Channel 4 recommissioned Peep Shop on the strength of DVD sales.

I was thinking that I would love it if the ‘blocks’ endboards, bumpers etc. would get a 2D refresh similar to the TV asahi branding in Japan.

Personally I think that looks far inferior to what 4 have today, reminds me of something you might see on TV in 2003

It’s from 2002 but is still in use. I just really like the aesthetic behind it. I like what 4 has but at the same time i would like a sleeker look.

I just got a bollocking from Channel 4 via email reminding me that it's against the terms and conditions of Core4 to upload those test idents to YouTube. Unless it's an email that was sent out to everybody, it's a little disconcerting as I uploaded it to a YouTube account that isn't tied to the email address I use on Core4.

Can we see it if you don't mind? Depends on how you're addressed in the email… because if it just sent to you then that is a little creepy if you didn't use the same name/email.

I'm addressed by my name, but every other Core4 email is like that so I don't know if it might be a system that generates people's names automatically. It's also worth pointing out that the video was taken down after being "manually detected".

Jeez.
Well, the way, Channel 4, you stop that from happening is show test idents/concepts to a focus group(s) in a controlled environment (I.e a hotel meeting room) via a projector and laptop or a USB stick stuck in a big telly.

Not via an internet link with no control over where the material ends up once its left your servers.

I mean, it was against the terms and conditions, so fair's fair really. I feared this would happen so I uploaded it a while back to the MHP Private Parts as file 21312 if anyone didn't download it.
