Seems they've made a tweak to the Channel 4 bug on SD, the '4' is now in the same position as the '4' HD. (i.e. closer to the edge)

Am I right in saying they also now take it off during F1?

Yes, have done since they started covering F1.

I refuse on principle to pay a subscription for a channel that has adverts. I spend such cash on Netflix instead

I take the view that the adverts subsidise my subscription...

That's fine, but it's not a business model I wish to be party to

Then why subscribe to Netflix, where your subscription is subsidised by a huge advertising income via product placement?

I can't say I've noticed any product placement on Netflix shows. All the cast in House of Cards seemed to be using iphones in Series 1-4, and suddenly switched to Blackberrys for Series 5, is that what you mean ?

It is nice though to not have any interruptions or on screen junk from the first frame of the programme, to the very last (inc credit sequences), something that no UK broadcaster can seem to offer

Going off topic I realise, but Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has had quite a lot of blatent product placement - although they do have fun with it. Orange is the New Black did in the latest season too with a storyline involving Cheetos

I must look out for more evidence. I don't recall detecting anything in 'Better Call Saul' or 'Breaking Bad', or
'Designated Survivor' [1]. Everything else I consume on Netflix are BBC shows (shock horror, I've paid for them once already) Scandi stuff, and movies.

[1] ABC 'mainstream' mass audience junk, fabulous idea for a story line, but laughingly badly written and acted, don't bother

Of course Netflix has an equivalent of a 'credit sequence'.

And of course even Netflix has it's 'credit squeezes' even if it's done by the software.

Neither have I, I agree with you on Designated Survivor but we only gave it half an episde before baling out.

Difference being that Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul weren't made for Netflix whereas Orange Is The New Black and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were.
