I've noticed that shortened opening titles have been used a lot lately, but not exclusively, but I think this is more likely to be down the original production, not an edit by the broadcaster.
Yes, there is a 90,45 and 20 second version of the titles, depending on the length of the episode. Nothing to do with C4
I've actually noticed that the more recent episodes of The Simpsons have had increasingly longer opening titles with couch gags that seem to take up half the episode.

Two points:
The new episodes like many US sitcom etcs have actually shorter running times, so back in the 90s The Simpsons were around 22-23mins long, now a days you be hard pushed like with the Big bang to get 20mins running.
The other point is plots are hard push that there need to use the proper long titles and couch gags to pad it out.

Similarly, there are a few episodes that have the title card, and nothing more.

Yes, Sunday's Homeland recorded with start and stop at the right points for me, (Start at the opening sponsorship sting, Stop seconds before the next prog)
I think C4 HD have now fixed the recording issue.

Possibly the last day for the Christmas Idents.
Well done on a great Christmas package Channel 4. Not looking forward to the Bird Man... if he comes back.

What if the next part of the 'story' idents launches tomorrow?
I've learnt to keep me expectations low. I hate the whole concept of a story - it doesn't work for me.
I like the randomly moving animated blocks more than I do the "story".

I wouldn't completely rule out Channel 4 reconsidering what to do with them if they got a whiff of how their Christmas idents went down.

Have C4 used the Christmas idents exclusively over the last week or so or have the regular ones been used too. All the shows I've seen have had the Christmas idents, but they've mainly been Christmas specials so not surprising.
And ignoring how nice the idents and break bumpers were I really do like how C4 phased them in gradually in the run-up to Christmas and then (I assume) used them regularly over the period itself.
