Yeah, but if you've watched The Simpsons with any regularity you'd know how often that word crops up, and how the BBC, Sky and Channel 4 have never had any problems leaving it in.

Once again, merely commenting on its usage.
P.S. As for whether I watch The Simpsons 'with any regularity', I have been watching it since before you were born, not that that has anything to do with whether Channel 4 aired the word 'crap' at 6:30pm, as was my only comment.

More minor 'Swearing on The Simpsons' news - 'crap' was used tonight. I have no idea on the rules (if any) surrounding 'crap' so I don't know if this was an oversight on Channel 4's part or not.

If you're shocked about "crap" popping up on The Simpsons, you've obviously never watched it before. Seeing as it pops up in the show regularly and even going back to the days it was still on BBC Two they never had any issues leaving that word in.

"Back on the days it was on BBC Two"

Wait, were you born then or just making a guess as to what they filtered?

Seeing as The Simpsons hadn't even begun when I was born (not even the Tracey Ullman shorts), I somehow doubt that!

Funny how people seem to infer my age from my username, when I'm actually more than twice as old as that...

*Genuine error alert*

I assumed you were fourteen based principally on your username. My apologies, James-2001. [puts on conical hat, sits in corner]

I was older than 14 when it actually was 2001, let alone now!

It seems rare that you'll see a Simpsons go out without at least one edit these days, often confusingly. I usually have a webpage of a transcript open so I can see what I've missed when I spot a cut. It doesn't help that the show is past its peak, so that when something falls flat I'm left wondering whether something was cut.

Quite often these days it's as much for time as content, so they can shove more adverts in.

It's interesting how the show received very little cuts on BBC TWO and yet Channel 4, the "risky" broadcaster who doesn't do the 'norm' is so terrified of the content of certain episodes, it edits the hell out of them so as not to offend anyone. Rolling Eyes

'Crap' is said in Shrek, a U rated kids film and 'piss' is in Watership Down, a U rated graphic horror film, so I doubt anyone would have a problem with them appearing in The Simpsons!

C4 should go back to airing new episodes uncut late on Friday Nights, maybe around 11pm and then show the daytime safe versions at 6pm weekdays/ Sunday afternoons

I've never noticed them cut anything that wasn't questionable at least, in terms of taste. The Simpsons is already only 22 minutes long, usually starts a minute or two after 6pm, and has a sizeable central and end break before Hollyoaks.

I've noticed that shortened opening titles have been used a lot lately, but not exclusively, but I think this is more likely to be down to the original production, not an edit by the broadcaster. Does anyone really cut for time over here?

Yes, there is a 90,45 and 20 second version of the titles, depending on the length of the episode. Nothing to do with C4
