A few of the "bigger" films seem to have popped up over the last couple of years, I think Channel 5 have shown a few. They seem to have changed their tact anyway- their films seem to be out on DVD all the time now, whereas their policy used to be to only have them out for a few months then take them away for several years.

Maybe they've realised in this day and age keeping them off TV and restricting them on DVD really doesn't work any more. Presumably more likely to encourage piracy rather than make people anticipate the re-release.

And of course they've just launched their own on demand service, though I don't know if that will be the full catalogue or whether the classics will be protected with somewhat limited availability. At £9.99 a month you'd expect everything really.

When they're charging more than Netflix or Amazon (for a much smaller catalogue then either) you'd certainly hope so!

If you compare the £9.99pm to the outrageous charges for a Disney DVD, it suddenly becomes a more viable proposition. Yet, if I was a parent with young children, I'd wait until Disney start doing deals with the likes of Samsung and LG to get on their premium apps.

On the other hand, if all the kids like is Frozen, the DVD/Blu-ray copy is going to get played constantly anyway.

I just buy Disney DVDs (well blu-rays now!) when they have the 2 for 1 promotion! Then they're not that badly priced.

C4 briefly fell off air around a minute ago, with the ads crashing to color bars and a caption "Ericsson W12 UK"

Something's gone belly up at Broadcast Centre in White City then, seeing as that's what Ericsson W12 refers to.

Matt Berry and his band The Maypoles will be performing Take My Hand, the theme tune to Toast of London, live during the credits at the end of tonight's show.

Matt Berry is a surprisingly good musician, and many probably think he's little more than a man with a deep voice. I do wonder how many people in the spotlight have other talents that go relatively unnoticed, particularly those with a musical gift. Ade Edmondson comes to mind as somebody whose musical ability didn't become apparent before he started knocking comedy in the head. It was actually (one of) his band(s) who made the title music (both start and end) for Bottom.

It's not widely known either that Leigh Francis (aka Keith Lemon) is an incredibly talented artist. In the first series of Bo Selecta, there was a segment where Avid Merrion would show his rather obscene, but brilliantly illustrated, pictures of him with celebrities. There's also a clip on YouTube where Leigh goes to his childhood home and finds his old models he made of Star Wars characters.

Then again, I suppose it isn't particularly widely known that Keith Lemon is, in fact, a guy called Leigh Francis.

(It's just become apparent that what I've just said has no relation to this thread. However, as I type this, Ade's early TV appearances include Saturday Live and The Comic Strip Presents, both C4 shows, while Leigh's breakthrough show was C4's Bo Selecta. Therefore, it qualifies for discussion in a thread about Channel 4.)

(Now I've just realised that trying to justify my post is actually irrelevant to this thread. I think I'll stop typing now.)
