I saw the comment before I watched the episode, so I knew something significant was going to happen, but only picked up on what was going to happen as the episode went on. If I'd read what happened before I saw it, I wouldn't be happy.

I think it's about time now. They've been used for over a decade in an era when things tend to age much quicker. It's only probably within the past year or so that I've started to become bored of the idents, probably because there have been no new additions for quite a while.
It'll be interested to see what they can do that's new with the '4', but I still firmly believe there's life in the old logo yet.
The Sun reckons that Channel 4 will be refreshing their brand in the Autumn, but the familiar 4 logo will remain. New idents in production?

All4's idents have proved that!

They've tried to replace the 4 logo once before in the early 90s, and that never made it to air. So I can't see how it could be considered old fashioned and overlooked as iconic after all these years.

I think Film4 and E4 prove that you don't need to do too much to refresh the image of your channel. I certainly think Film4's refresh last year was a vast improvement on the previous set. I don't mind the current ident set but it would be nice to see something a bit different after all these years.

I can't comment much on FilmFour's original presentation, but the Film4 rebrand was a successful move to change perceptions of the channel and show people it had evolved into the service and production company it is today. More4's rebrand was one I still can't justify. I didn't see anything wrong with the presentation it had originally, and the new logo - although I've grown to like it - continues to bug me in DOG form.

This was in a core4 survey - looks like C4 want to make the secret life of 4 year olds into a series:
Quote:
Channel 4 is looking to show a new series which follows four to six-year-olds as they take their first steps towards independence and embark on the new challenges of going to school.
The series will follow their development from the moment they meet for the first time through to their forming of friendships to learning social rituals (like friendly competition).
The entire process will be observed and monitored by leading scientists and child psychologists, who will provide occasional comment on the children's stages of development.

Birmingham Post speculates Channel 4 could move to Birmingham.

(bit of a non story in my opinion when you consider they don't make their own programmes and playout is outsourced, there doesn't seem to be much point)

There was talk 35 years ago, that the channel should be established outside of London, nothing
ever came of it, and it ended up smack bang in the middle of Soho. Although of course its top rated
programme was 100% produced on Merseyside.
