Viewers across the North of England in the Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees & Border Regions, may have noticed a change of Weather Appearance, over the last two days. The sudden voice over of Jon Mitchell, rather than an on-screen, in-vision Weather Report.

A Source at YTV has said "There are no plans for any changes to the Weather Presentation, or the in-vision presentation".

The Source Wouldn't Say if the Weather Report would be back to normal today, but it shouldn't be too long.

Yeah it was the same at 3.15pm but everything seems to be back now from 6.25pm on Granada Reports

Same on Border, in-vision is back.

Well it's either a cock-up, or a tester to see if anyone noticed. Viewers in SMG-land are already used to a very bored sounding and inept duty announcer voicing over some very cheap, outdated, weather graphics (with the unforgettable acid trip flythrough reminiscent of The Day Today's weather graphics). I wouldn't be surprised if ITV1 were considering doing the same thing to save a bit of money.

Aren't Out of Vision forecasts common on YTV, Granada and Border or something? TTTV have had out of Vision since at least 1989 (usually the weekday daytime forecasts), and it's been the same announcer for at least the last 6 years too. We only ever see the YTV team at weekends and when Bob is off.

Nope they stopped it a while back in Granada and brought in the GMG team.

From what I know I believe Yorkshire has had IVC Weather for many many years now, where as Granada didn't tend to bother, the only form of IVC Weather they had was when Fred read it on Granada Tonight...

[Slide of a kid's picture]"And what have we got for tonight? Well....."

Was the common phrase said by Fred, but it turned back into Granada Reports and the presenter just read it, up until 1998 the Weather was read by the Duty announcer, but when Granada's continuity closed, it was read by one of the YTV Weather Team, usually Jon Mitchell. Then one day in 2002 they revamped all Granada regions graphics and brought back IVC Weather, which is a good thing IMO, as it is more friendlier, no matter how nice Jo Blythe looks and how bad Kerrie Gosney's hair is!

Though it would be a good idea if all ITV PLC regions got the same graphics, the Granada ones looking better IMO.
