I like media player format not because of the quality, but because it works in MovieMaker.

This thread has gone off on a slant. I know this is an important matter and the outcome will make or break tv pres sites, but surely it should be discussed in a different thread.

the correct way to express that is

"Shouldn't this be in media websites?"

On the CBBC topic, when did they move into TC9 in the late 90s. I think it was in 97, but I don't think it was exactly the time of the new look in October, because that happened on a Saturday and the studio move took place on a Monday. Sorry if this is rather vague, but I was around 6 at the time. If anyone knows, thanks, it's been bugging me for ages.

I'm sorry, but is that the best that CBBC can come up with?

A blue background with some wierd green blobs in the background, and a CBBC logo zooming round? So much for virtual 'studio'.

Didn't this happen to the UK Top 40?

They started off with a nice studio, then went to one man standing in front of a green screen, then the programme was axed.

Is this going to happen to CBBC presentation?

Although I don't run a website, I can understand the annoyance, a memeber on YouTube by the name of 'AidanLunn' has completely ripped almost every BBC1 Closedown clip available on the Net, which includes your site Mike, a clip I uploaded onto the PP is also a victim. I find it very annoying especially when you go to the effort, if you want to watch to your heart's content, I don't mind thats what I did it for, but I don't like it when people use it for their own credit or gain.

Good grief. This AidanLunn idiot really has been busy!

I know a lot of people are probably fed up with me going on about this but unless you run a site, you can't possibly understand how frustrating it is.

YouTube are removing TV Room originated clips that I identify. However, there's a vast amount of material from various pres sites appearing on there. I have also identified individuals who are taking video material and re-editing it.

Frustratingly, to rub salt in the wound, people on here are continuously linking to such material on YouTube.

Pres sites have perhaps been way too kind in offering clips for download. Wink

Trust me Mike, you're wasting your breath here. I posted the exact same argument some weeks back in the Family Fortunes thread, and whilst at one time people used to support the pres sites and give short shrift to the people reuploading, all you get now is 'oh stop looking for the glory'. It's largely the reason I've pulled TV Whirl offline, pending a complete overhaul of all the clips to block easy upload to Youtube (I'll be sharing any progress on this one with the other pres sites of course).

Annoyingly people are quite happy to say 'stop looking for all the glory', but are quick enough to come back whinging to us to get uploading more stuff for them when we just say sod it and don't bother. Go whine on at the Youtube kiddies to do it for you instead people.

I've stopped watching CBBC now, the quality of the programmeshave gone down. And one thing i do like though on CBBC, is Tracy Beaker, but she is not in the new one. CBBC will never be the same as it used to.

the BBC seem to have problems with ending programs while theyre good; tracy beaker is 1 example. if theyre keeping beaker they should at least change the name to 'the dumping ground'

Tracy bloody Beeker is always on the CBBC channel - either that or Kerching!

On Freeview at least there is a new CBBC game, Studio Runners, accessable from the BBCi menu. Pretty crap!

I seem to recall the move being shortly before the new BBC logo was introduced in 1997. Certainly for a few years I had some CBBC continuity from May 1997 on tape, and they still had the old studio then.

One of my old schoolfriends, Montanna, is a regular in Tracy Beaker. I haven't seen her since I left the school in 2001, though...but it did mean that when the show started in 2002 I immediately recognised her.

The changes may be part of making CBBC younger ready for when the BBC launches the new "teen" brand.
