Although I don't run a website, I can understand the annoyance, a memeber on YouTube by the name of 'AidanLunn' has completely ripped almost every BBC1 Closedown clip available on the Net, which includes your site Mike, a clip I uploaded onto the PP is also a victim. I find it very annoying especially when you go to the effort, if you want to watch to your heart's content, I don't mind thats what I did it for, but I don't like it when people use it for their own credit or gain.

Good grief. This AidanLunn idiot really has been busy!

I know a lot of people are probably fed up with me going on about this but unless you run a site, you can't possibly understand how frustrating it is.

YouTube are removing TV Room originated clips that I identify. However, there's a vast amount of material from various pres sites appearing on there. I have also identified individuals who are taking video material and re-editing it.

Frustratingly, to rub salt in the wound, people on here are continuously linking to such material on YouTube.

Pres sites have perhaps been way too kind in offering clips for download. Wink

Just to make it clear... the material I link to on Youtube is always stuff I myself has captured. I am with you on this one, I understand the time and effort that goes into compiling vast amounts of clips. However, there are people out there like my self that only post their own material.

I think part of the problem seems to be that TV presentation sites aren't updating their material right away at the moment. Not that it's anyone's fault, but it's quicker to let people see clips through YouTube.

You're missing the point, Antz. The concern here is clips that are being downloaded from pres sites and made available on YouTube.

Dont be expecting anything 'brand new' as this will be the christmas ident for this year. I have seen it for my self. It animates into a christmas tree.

Do you know anything about BBC1 and BBC2's festive ident plans?

Sorry, misunderstood your point.

The comment still lies though (in terms of TV presentation becoming more popular on YouTube). But that debate's for another day. Wink).

Easier to access?? Right clicking on an icon is hardly tricky. If you're not prepared to wait around twenty seconds or so for a high quality clip, then by all means, stick to YouTube.

If people have a preference for streaming on TV Room, it can be easily arranged!!!

Interestingly, a clip (a blue peter outtake) I put on youtube that I captured myself was taken down by the BBC themselves.

Some clips that were on my old website are now on youtube with no credit to me.

I have a preference for clips in Windows Media format rather than RealPlayer format, which I used to like.

I read somewhere that CBBC will be coming from TC12 and will be presented by Gemma Hunt and Anne Foy.

My current net connection is through JANET so it's less than 20 seconds for me.

No the thing with youtube is the seemlessness of it. You click a link, wait a sec and it plays. It's one click as opposed to (at a mimimum) four if one was to directly link to your file.

As fab as your site is - and I find it the best out of them all - it's still essentially the same system as ever but a bit posher. I hate to have to use the term but it would be interesting to see a "web 2.0" (shudder) verison.

What I would find useful, and I have no idea about the bandwidth / data transfer issues around flash video, is a for there to be an embedded version of the clip at the size of one of your pictures that you have. Then an option to download a lovely HQ Windows Media file.

Like I've said, I don't know the bandwidth considerations although would be very interested to find out.
