Don't they already have a CSO position used for the Newsround short bulletins?
Newsround have had their own broomcupboard for ages now.

Infact as they arnt using tc9 anymore this could be erected in a non studio room at the TVC. Quite possible as the set is small, is not very tall, this also explains the lack of long shots.

Well, they have been all the time (I think), but they were using a normal set as well, weren't they?

yes, the CBBC channel was still using the green screen most of the time during xmas. CBBC1/2 were using a 'real' set with the CBBC channel only using it occassionally, even when CBBC wasnt airing on CBBC1/2.

So the CSO is here to stay it seems, the use of the ' real ' set must have just been to make the presentation seem festive. Well what a shame, it wont be long before they do away with IVC alltogether for kids. I mean just why is it no in fashion anymore. Weve lost Studio Disney Nickelodeon IVC and CITV IVC. If the likes of nick once operated and on a low budget too then surely cbbc can master some alternative to a green screen!

Yes, I'm fearing the worst in that sense myself.
I've only just realised its Barney in that picture.
Haven't seen him in CBBC continuity really since the last series of *good quality* links - but that was way back in the Easter school holidays 2005. They were really good on the CBBC channel. Good idents (bugs of course), great presenters (Matt Edmondson and Barney Harwood to name but two), competitions and games, and original links, guests, but of course a good set in TC9, and it was well used.

well its heading that way now, at least on the CBBC channel. whenever i switch it on its an announcement over a now, next and later caption. when analogue switches off the BBC will be able to concentrate souly on the CBBC channel and hopefully they will give it great idents, pres and a real set that they can be proud of

Although the channel brought a new look to the entire CBBC, i believe its because of the channel that CBBC is being forgotten a bit. I just wonder what will be the case this time next year, a revert back to a real set, still with the cso. or meerly just an ident wih a ****ty voiceover!

Is CBBC still moving to Manchester? Maybe they could use the self-op studio that NorthWest Tonight used to use for breakfast bulletins as a replacement for the good old days in NC1?
