Reading round elsewhere it appears that later on this month Challenge will be leaving MUX A on DTT and be taking the Pick TV+1 slot on DTT, whilst still remaing on LCN 46, with Pick TV+1 ceasing.

Will this improve the picture for some of its show like TNA?

You never know, Fort Boyard has apparenty been in the schedules for Challenge twice recently and then removed - due to some problems obtaining licenses from what I hear. I'd assume that means that they are in negotiations with (hopefully) Fremantle (but probably) Ronin Entertainment to obtain some rights for somewhen near in the future.

It's Ronin.

I am very pleased to say that 'Fort Boyard' with Tom Baker is coming back to Challenge! Monday to Friday at 6pm starting on the 3 Oct.

Damn. I'm missing several channels including Pick TV and Dave. Does this mux change mean I'll lose Challenge?

I'm guessing this is because the Sky Sports News slot (which Sky have held since Freeview launched in 2002) is cheaper?

So what will happen to the former BrightIdeas/ftn slot?

BrightIdeas/FTN? Bloody hell that's going back a long time.

You can't think of DTT slots in their original capacities any more... the muxes have been chopped, changed, remodulated, expanded and renamed so much since then that it's best you don't try to think of it in terms of 2003 "slots", you'll give yourself a headache.

Actually, you can trace the lineage of most slots that were around when Freeview launched. Although I can't guarantee that it won't give you a headache.

As for the Ftn/BrightIdeas timeshare, it remained in place until October 2007, when Ftn became Virgin1. Two weeks later, UKTV launched Dave on Freeview, who took over UKTV History's old 24-hour slot. UKTV History became a daytime-only channel at the same time, taking over the space used by UKTV Bright Ideas. In 2009, Virgin1 secured a 24-hou slot in Mux A, using the old evening-only space for Virgin1+1. The timeshift channel was closed down in June last year, making Yesterday a 24-hour channel.

In a nutshell: The slot once used by the Ftn/BrightIdeas timeshare is today used to broadcast Yesterday round-the-clock.

It seems that the Challenge Jackpot brand has now been dropped completely. The overnight stuff on ITV1 is now branded Jackpot247 and I am not sure that Sky are involved in anyway.

http://challengejackpot.com/ currently shows an animation of the Challenge brand literally being dropped before redirecting to their new site.

Yeah, Sky were never involved - Virgin had already sold Challenge Jackpot 18 months ago.

Quote:
NetPlay TV plc acquired the business assets of Two Way Gaming Ltd for £2 million in stock. NetPlay TV signed production and gaming agreements with Virgin Media for an initial period until 30 June 2013, and took over production of the Challenge Jackpot brand, including its website and television channel.

On 25 March 2010, NetPlay TV and Virgin Media Television agreed to the termination of the option agreement entered into on 7 April 2009 under which VMTV was granted options over 14.9m ordinary shares being 9.9 per cent of the share capital then in issue at a price of 18p per share (the "Option Agreement"). Under the revised agreement NetPlay TV took control of the Challenge Jackpot database and terminated the Option Agreement in exchange for a fixed cash payment of £1.82m. The database generated £2.9m of gross gaming margin from 12 May to 31 December 2009 and was subject to a revenue share agreement. Under the revised terms all revenues arising from this database will be retained by NetPlay TV, with VMTV receiving fixed monthly payments that reflected the value of its airtime.
