I have also found myself watching Challenge for 3 or 4 hours back to back in recent weeks. It hasn't been this good since 1997. If they could just bring back Prize Time and revert the stupid edits then it would be perfect.
As for observations, one of the prizes in Family Fortunes was a "top of the range virtual reality games console". This turned out to be a Sega Dreamcast which was proudly displayed with its control pad upside down.

There was talk of challenge producing some new programmes for itself, before the budget got cut in 2009.
One of the suggestions ( this did come from Challenge gura) new series of catchphrase with Roy walker.
Maybe sky would be willing to make some new shows, it did pay for them to do it, Take It or Leave It was one of the highest rated show on there.

For every popular series like Take it or Leave it there are unpopular ones like It's Not What You Know and That's the Question.
I'd prefer to see Challenge buy more shows than make their own (Prize Time not included). I'd also like to see more curiosities like The Krypton Factor 1995. What about the first series of Bullseye, early series of The Krypton Factor or even long forgotten regional programmes (these would still probably have higher productions values than the average Challenge commissioned programme.
The only thing I'd like to them to commission is the long awaited second series of Karaoke Challenge. I don't think Question Mark is doing much at the moment. Seriously, does anyone know what Question Mark is doing at the moment?

I think Challenge could make their own version of Catchphrase. They've used Roy Walker in recent times, got to be cheaper than Chris Tarrant, the show can't be any more expensive than shows like The Pyramid Game (which was hosted by Donny Osmond) and Take it or Leave It which required quite a large set.
You could have £2,000 (?) jackpot like on the daytime version, with Mark Curry.

They definally need to bring back Prize Time though. What's Kevin Duala up to thesedays?
If this sort of thing isn't taboo anymore, games with premium rate phone lines would surely bring in lots of revenue, although I don't know if it actually made any money back in 1997. Prize Time seemed to down size constantly and then was axed after not very long.

Woody? This may have been a nickname though. I'd never seen him before or since Challenge Prize Time (unless you count the Karaoke Challenge repeats a couple of years ago) so I assume he came from behind the scenes and has since gone back there. It would be nice to know though.
Just in case anyone is reading this but doesn't know who we are talking about, it is this guy...
Do you work with him? Is he your Dad?

I think the bits in between the programmes were called something like iPlay and was presented b Toby Anstis when we first got Sky, but when Challene TV became Challenge? it was replaced by something called Game Central which may have been live for the first day but turned into recorded pieces apart from one day of the week. I think Paul Hendy and Bradley Walsh were two of the presenters.

I think the point is supposed to be you don't get any other visual clue as to whether you're right or not. Therefore touching (or full blown bashing on occasion) the screens will capture the response but it doesn't show the contestant whether they're right or not. The same thing happens with the DVLA Theory Tests - you can touch it all you want until the cows come home but you'll never know which questions you got wrong.
Probably a case of replace the end-caps when distributing because that looks too modern for a 20 year old programme. That 1991 figure is the production year though, not the transmission year, because Des O'Connor TYP didn't start until February 1992. I thought 1991 was too early.
Anyway it's tooted in the EPG as Series 1. Technically if you want to be really picky the show started in 1955. Although I dare say the entire original 13 year run has long since been wiped.
The blurring out is new. The captions have been there since before Virgin. Challenge never used to have a caption where an appeal didn't have a voiceover.
The Audio Description videos posted earlier in the thread are absolutely fantastic. "Bears an uncanny resembalance to Hitler" indeed. Could be slightly bordering on the offensive side of things but a change from how they're usually done.

It looks to me that those big TV sets on The Krypton Factor don't actually do anything when the contestant touches them. It looks like they just work out the contestant's scores by watching the footage.

Take your Pick dated from 1991 but had a relatively modern day Thames endcap (one from say 10 years ago)

Family Fortunes featured a contestants call in the credits. The first episode kept it in, complete with voiceover from Peter Dickson, but an on screen caption saying that the appeal is now closed.
The second episode featured clean theme music without voiceover and the address kept in, but blurred out.

No, oh goodness me No: Take it or leave it had up to £100'000 jackpot.
Make the catchphrase all £100 each round 1-2: , first found, with the bonus catchphrase £1000 dropping by £100 each time. Ready money round £150 - £250: Then you can have £5000 holiday.
I dare say you could still walk away with £10'000 which Is still far less than many other shows.
