With all this talk of Krypton Factor 1995, this thread seems to have overlooked the fact that Konnie 'Hook' Huq was on the second episode of Blockbusters on Saturday. She should be on at least the first Sunday episode too.

What I found most surprising was that the CA mentioned this fact before the episode aired. Most of the time the CA is very generic, "Now Blockbusters, next Dale's Supermarket Sweep and later The Krypton Factor double bill" type of thing, with no mention of Supermarket Sweep being a celebrity special and the Krypton Factor double bill being not only the 1993 final but also the start of the new (to Challenge) 1995 series. What I am saying is they very rarely mention the actual content of particular episodes of any programme. When they have tried in the past they have messed up by playing something like "The elephant sh***ing on the floor always makes me laugh" over the end of an unrelated episode of Auntie's Bloomers.

The EPG is not much better. What is the theme of 3-2-1 this week? Who are the guests? Why is the EPG entry for Bullseye the same for every episode? It doesn't even tell you if it is a Jim Bowen episode or a Dave Spikey one. See also The Crystal Maze and Richard O'Brian/Ed Tudor Pole. Episode and/or series numbers would be good too.

They can do it, Room 101 has the guest listed in the EPG and Celebrity WWTBAM tells us that former Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley and nature lover Bill Oddie will be appearing.

Come on Challenge. You have restored the channel to former greatness, now try improving the programme information too.

BTW, anyone else a member of Challenge's Inside the Box audience survey? Why am I being asked about Sky One's rubbish Wall of Fame each week? When do I get the opportunity to answer questions about Challenge?

TL:DNR : Konnie Huq was on Blockbusters today.

As far as I can tell, 5pm and there beyond get 'proper' CAs (albeit pre-recorded), anything before gets an ident (either clean or with a generic CA) or just the break bumper (I'd like to see this stop, just have edited down idents if you need it to be short). Therefore, weekday Blockbusters get nothing, weekends get a proper (albeit pre-recorded) CA.

The EPG has been totally useless for as long as I can remember. I too wouldn't have thought series-specific information would be tricky (but I can see why episode specific information is a bit taxing!!).

Yeah that Inside The Box thing is a bit of a con. I'm minded to unsubscribe, particularly since they sent me an email with somebody else's log in details.

Classic Shooting Stars is being totally wasted in its slot too - tonight's repeat with Dermot Morgan feels particularly so.

A lot of the changes to the format are good. Bringing the assault course forward really sets the pace, the short contestant bios are unobtrusive, the short CGI animations make more sense than a short crap 'drama', the new mental agility round was much faster and fairer.

But bringing the assault course first really screws it up, because they had to introduce the contestants during it, so you don't know who they are for half of it, it seems in this format to act as an introduction to the contestants rather than a round itself. In addition, it's not based on who finishes first but on how they do compared to their target time, which given we don't know what the target times are makes for crap telly. All we see is contestants getting maximum points for finishing third. Similarly in the Response round you go from an obvious and clear result - they've landed/they've crashed - to watching a tiny speck on a map and being given a percentage score that means next to nothing.

Sill, the disco turntable they did Mental Agility on was fun.

A bit of a grey area but I guess good examples, though Masterchef's revamp of the revamp didn't seem to go down too well this year - though it was long overdue reformatting from a daily format to a weekly format since it moved to BBC1.

Thinking back to Saturday nights and Noel's House Party got more disastrous with each revamp towards the end, and whilst The Generation Game tweaked a few things when Jim Davidson took over, most changes I think were undone for his second season, except I think for having one behind the conveyor belt - that remained until the end I think.

Well, Masterchef's first revamp, when Gary Rhodes took over, was a flop and got it axed, only for it to return in a completely guide. You're right to say the Gen Game was fiddled with with Davidson took over only for most of the changes to be reversed, although only a single player had done the conveyor belt in the original Brucie and Larry round, although that never seemed to make much sense - in the seventies, the couple had to answer quiz questions to decide who'd do it, which seems odd as previously they'd been working together, and now they were rivals. And the loser even got a consolation prize, when as they were related, surely they'd share the prizes anyway?

I agree and I had never seen this episode before either. Gavin was a bit more Scottish than I was expecting. He also didn't know what a peasouper is. I don't think I will ever read his posts in the same light again.

A "peasouper" is also the name of a fog machine, of which I have lost track of the number I have sold. Ridiculous.

Hey ho.

She will be back. She is clearly a time traveller as she spoke with Holness about presenting Blue Peter and marrying Charlie Brooker. She also mentioned that she once sat on Bob Holness' knee in exchange for a lolly pop and that isn't due to happen until May 2013.

We should see her modelling the Blockbusters sweatshirt in a few days.
