Can anyone think of a show when such a high profile revamp has actually worked. Usually I guess such things are a last throw of a dice, so it shouldn't be too surprised that a revamped series is often a final series.

My guess would be Family Fortunes and Mr and Mrs - mainly because they got a half decent time slow and a reasonable budget.
But did either have a revamp on a similar scale to The Krypton Factor. I don't know about Mr & Mrs but Family Fortunes has always had the same basic gameplay as far as I know., though with occassional tweaks.

Other examples of failed revamps could include You Bet! with Darren Day and change of theme tune....also Telly Addicts which was completely revamped, as well as Noel's House Party which was also completely changed beyond recognition.
In terms of drama, The Bill is an excellent example of a failed revamp.
So, no...in response to your original question, I can't think of a show when such a high profile revamp has actually worked!
