There was a real sign of the times on the first ever Auntie's Bloomers shown last week - Wogan started by pointing out what the "bleep" sound effect signified (ie someone swearing) - was it really that rare on TV at that point (1991)? Obviously there was none of the reality programming that if features in today, but it must have bene used in things like the Gotcha Oscars which had been running for 3 years at that point.
Denis Norden made a similar explanation during It'll Be Alright on the Night 3... about ten years or so before.
I'm really happy with the way Challenge has improved. This time a year ago there was almost no changes to schedule month-to-month, and when there were they were mainly negative - stuff like dropping the Crystal Maze lead me to believe the channel was being prepped for closure in the same way as Trouble was.
Sky seemed slow to make any changes, but every one they've made is welcome. Their overnight schedule (which this time last year ended at 3am) is much better and variety throughout the schedule is much better.
If I was being hyper-critical, I'd say Most Extreme Elimination is a waste of time since it's just an annoying version of Takeshi's Castle, but whatever.
A few things I'd love to see again:
The People Versus
Fifteen-to-One
Fort Boyard
Unbeatable Banzuke
But chief on this list would have been Blockbusters, and by the sounds of things we have a long run of these to look forward to (followed by the series Sky own perhaps).
I wanna see Treasure Hunt (including the bad BBC remake) and Interceptor again!

BBC Blankety blanks are 35mins longs, meaning there need a 45mins slot to get proper broadcast.
Challenge had any since there broadcast the First 90 episodes of S10 blockbusters, ( just under 2 months,) then repeat it again then move straight on to other 90 episodes around September.

They are showing the 40 minute ITV version from 2001. BBC version was 30 minutes which they could easily put in the same slot if they got it.
I have looked and from its beginning in 1979 it was give a 35min slot. I have no idea why the tv listings would say that if it was not the case:, unless someone been cutting stuff out again!
Are Challenge starting to ease off on the editing? I could've sworn Shooting Stars used to be shown in a half hour slot, but now it's in a 40 minute slot. Having said that, I watched Bullseye earlier today and they cut from the Part Two slide straight to Jim introducing Bronze Bully.

The more regularly aired 2002 series have always been badly butchered to fit a 30 minute slot.
Fingers crossed Sky have gone back to the original copies then. Although I guess it's too much to ask for the extended series 4 eps UK Gold used to air, or even the "lost" Summer Special...

Blankety Blank under Wogan and Dawson was initially 35 minutes but Dawson's final series, in 1989/90, was only thirty minutes. Bob's Full House was indeed forty minutes long.
