A bit of a morbid question, but watching an episode of The Crystal Maze tonight got me thinking - what generally happens to 'in memorial' slides that were inserted into the credits in the period between the production and original transmission?

I guess it would depend on whether such a slide was inserted by the producers in the programme delivered to the network, or by the network themselves after they received the finished programme - which is probably more the case with a show where a former star has died rather than contestant.

A contestant died two weeks after the recording in a motorbike accident - one of the prizes involved something to do with motorbikes, and he died taking part.

His name was David MacPherson, and he appeared in episode 13 of Series 2, in June 1991.

He died in a road accident, but it was nothing to do with the Crystal Maze as his team only amassed 25 Gold credits and as such wouldn't have even got a minor prize.

Sources: UKGameshows.co.uk and Mark Gerrish's Crystal Maze site.

Something about motorbikes must have been mentioned near the end of the show (I only saw the end), as I (somehow) vividly remembered the acccident being part of the prize. I will never trust my brain again, and I'll always Google before I post. No doubt, I'll forget that by tomorrow.

I'm sure I've ready somewhere that Ed's first show had Richard speeding off on a motorbike or something (yep it's motorbikes again...), yet there was no sign of that on Monday's Challenge show?

Never saw the Ed Tudor-Pole episodes when they went out as I'd lost interest by that point so good to finally see them!

Viewing figures are twice what there were under sky only.

It was the 1994 Christmas Childrens special. Challenge show all the specials in the wrong order (starting with that one, I think) after they've got to the end of the series 6.

But substantially less than Virgin 1/Channel One used to achieve (which was never that brilliant anyway!). I'm not complaining though. I'm seriously considering dropping Sky since Challenge is now available on Freeview.

Looks like Fun House is dropping out of the schedules from next weekend. Oddly, for today's two eps they quit the final 1999 series halfway through and then cut back to 1996 for one show. A shame anyway - was quite enjoying starting my weekend with a bit of Fun House Very Happy

Challenge put an extra advert break in between 2 games in the Futuristic zone tonight in the Maze - so not even between zones this time! Not to worry, Ed was dealing cosmic handshakes aplenty tonight! Laughing

The extra break for the Ed Tudor-Pole episodes varies in position from episode to episode.
It can be anywhere from the second to third zone "transition" (not the right word but you know what I mean) to just before the Crystal Dome.

Admittedly the edits to force an extra break are much better than I remember them being before Sky bought the parent company out.

They're in exactly the same spots as they were under VMTV.

The sixth and final series of The Crystal Maze is now on Challenge on Freeview from tonight! Haven't seen this since 1995!! Surprised Wonder what Challenge will show when it finished in 2 and a half weeks?? Probably The Crystal Maze again! Rolling Eyes When they could stick on Fort Boyard or maybe even Knightmare - surely shows that would be appealing to The Maze's audience - before rerunning the series again?

Or maybe Run The Gauntlet?? Surprised Surprised
