Yes, I agree.
Everything goes in cyclic fads though - as with all channels, some new exec will come along and 'invent' something very similar to before no doubt.
In the US, Takeshi is called Vik Romano and the guy he sits next to who he ususally beats up with a paper fan is called Kenny Blankenship. Ironically i can't fin d any pics. of him on any fansite. Also General Lee, doesn't get a name at all, he is portrayed as a referee for the games. I told you guys, Spike TV put a new spin on the games. If the endcap never said : Footage takes from : Takeshi's Castle, i wouldn't know what i was watching. Spike TV also took the Karaoke game and had a MXC special: Elimination Idol!
I saw the Karaoke game for the first time last night and it has to be one of the weakest there is. Even Craig Charles said at one point "Well, there's not much I can say here"!
The karaoke one is ace. But they all are, except from the thing where they have to choose a hole to jump in before the showdown. Glad they dropped that.

They haven't exactly dropped it as such, it just appears in the odd episode.
They dropped it for the Japanese season 3. Confusingly enough, our episodes seem to be a random stream. However, dunno if this is true but the colour of General Lee's jacket is a season indicator apparently...

Oh good, glad they have dropped it then as it offers no entertainment value, just maybe a witty comment from CC.
I have read elsewhere that in Japan the lasers guns seen in the UK series 1 actually replaced the water cannons seen in the UK series 2 & 3 :
