I'm fond of the Interceptor suggestion - and although Annabel Croft wouldn't be difficult to replace (after all, she had the presentation skills of a moppet), replacing Sean O'Kane (Inty himself) would be tricky.
Aside from that, bring back Henry Kelly and/or remake Going For Gold - if only for unintentional humour value.
thing is ame could have been said for Bob Monkhouse with Family Fortunes, then Max Bygraves with FF, then Les Dennis with FF - but the only exception is that Andy bloke - he was useless.
Matthew Kelly was a good replacement for Leslie Crowther on Stars In Their Eyes and same could be said for Darren Day replacing Matthew Kelly on You Bet!
I must admit, though Dave Spikey is now more and more convincing as a true host for the New Bullseye.
I, also think that Vernon Kay could actually make Family Fortunes his own - but I will have to wait and see. The biggest turn-off though is going to be Joe Pasquale presenting The Price Is Right - NO!!!!!
Picture of the new series in this weeks TVTimes showing Pasquale as the new host - and an interview with him - starts a week on Monday - according to TV times
I have a feeling Joe will be useless. He'll probably know he's not doing very good and end up trying to perform a pathetic comedy routine all the time. "oops oh dear love, hahahaha." BUT we'll have to wait and see.
So far, the strongest contenders are The Crystal Maze, Gladiators and Strike It Lucky.
I couldn't agree more with The Crystal Maze, but Gladiators and Strike It Lucky? Though these shows were good at the time, they're hardly mega top notch entertainment or remembered fondly, both shows also suffered towards the end of their lives, both falling to the axe, and in the case of SIL.(/Rich) the presenter disappearing into obscurity thanks to rather serious allegations that were publicised in the Media.
The Crystal Maze seems to be the most popular one, but it's getting the money to build the set which is the biggest problem, and is way out of Challenge's budget. Though they seem to be keen on reviving ITV game shows, and working with ITV to bring them back, I would highly suggest Catchphrase, with Roy Walker would be good. Simple idea, graphics (I would presume) are more easily available and cheaper these days too, and the prizes don't have to be spectacular either.
Though we could all go on for hours, but Challenge's list must seem to consist of every BBC, ITV and Channel 4 game show from the 1980's onwards....
...Or if they want cheap, why not bring back Channel 5's 100% and Whittle, the top prize on there was only £250!
Catchphrase would be good... but it's already been done recently hasn't it on ITV1.
The only way it would work would be with Roy Walker again... and I personally can't see that happening, otherwise he would have come back the last time.
