We're looking to re-make the next 'Bullseye', and wondered what suggestions you had.

This has been mooted several times, and I believe Challenge were keen to remake it, but AIUI it would cost alot of money, and would probably require joint funding, from a terrestrial broadcaster, even when the original Set was constructed, it cost several Million pounds at the time. But agreed it would be nice to see it back....

If not my next one would be The Krypton Factor, but again it would probably cost too much money, and it would depend if Gordon Burns would want to do it.

Alot of these people would like to see back, but again it requires alot of money and alot of time and patience. There isn't much chance that a terrestrial network would want a second go at an old show, where as Challenge would want to do it, but don't have enough money, they got lucky with Bullseye, as it's cheap and cheerful.

If not....Going For Gold...that wouldn't cost that much!

Anything Challenge make is just going to be low budget and will end up being as good as the original in very few cases, worst in most cases and never better (even if we do have to use rose tinted spectacles when looking at the original).

I think they should make their own show, their own original idea. I know Bullseye has been quite popular, but isn't that just the novelty of having new episodes after all of these years? It can't last can it?

Most old shows were taken off air for a reason. I am a fan of game shows and I like Challenge but I would really rather watch old shows then the low budget remakes.

Anyone remember Challenge's remakes of Winner Takes All (Bobby Davro) and Sale of the Century (Keith Chegwin). Not bad shows if you stand them alone, but no where near as good/interesting as watching the rarely repeated originals.

The only show I can think of off the top of my head that didn't get a fair run was Interceptor which got lost in the great ITV franchise of 1992. I can't see Challenge making that though. The helicoptor would need to become a push bike for a start.

Maybe there are some other shows that didn't get a fair chance at becoming great, or maybe Challenge can buy a format from another country that hasn't been seen here before?

I've got it. How about a second series of Karaoke Challenge?

Gladiators, definitely.

Knightmare - it's even got as far as a new pilot though the project has since been shelved.

Top choice for me would probably be Big Break; I think it stands a good chance of holding up well against the originals.

Gladiators is my second choice, but compared to the former I'm much less optimistic about the what quality of the show would be like.

Although they went ahead with a remake of Fort Boyard instead. Interestingly enough, Crystal Maze only came about because they couldn't do the full Fort Boyard treatment on it originally so had to make a few changes. Apparently the Challenge remake (of Fort Boyard) is far better than the original episodes commissioned by Channel Five despite being done on a much smaller budget.

It was dropped in 1989. Apparently it was good(ish) ratings but nothing to write home about so could have gone either way as to whether it had a new series or not.

As to other remake ideas:

Krypton Factor - about time it was revived BUT I fear it'll be heavily dumbed down. Could work on a Challenge budget though.
Gladiators - was too much talk first time round.
Celebrity Squares would be perfect I reckon for a remake as there isn't much to generally mess around with on the format. Unfortunately Bob Monkhouse has left us so as to who would present it I don't know.
