to be honest i thought the view out of the window was live! evidently not!

wonder what building in brum the camera is at.

The day there was a problem with the picture it was pouring with rain.. It could be that rain got into the camera.

it was fixed as soon sa they got back from the insert - and the window views looked absolutely identical (if you ignore the white line) before an after. so thats why i think it was a tape left on pause.

anyway - kay did a fantastic report on the main programme from the chelsea flower show. kay wanted answers - so naturally she chose gardening supremo and pebble mill veteran alan titchmarsh. so she did a fantastic comedy report of her running round chasing after alan (and keep missing him) - but speaking to her midlands friends on the way about their fabulous midlands related gardens.

oh my god! kay spots alan! QUICK!!

hes gone - but look!! its kays friend viv. from shropshire "hello viv how are you?" "im fine thanks kay"

kay looks high and low for alan

and nick the camera man has lost several lbs due to kays dedicated search for tits-marsh

hes from warwickshire- and kay thinks thats just fab.

shame kay isnt on the main show very often - she really out-did herself today. when you compare that fantastic report to the likes of mc cudden and satnam rana - theres no contest. it had exactly the right tone for midlands today.

on another note - yet another shameless plug for WM *titter* - i think its the first time theyve put the frequency in the location strap Laughing

I assume that piccy was from WM's interview/phone in for Dave Jones of Wolves, which gives a good oppotunity to plug WM's coverage on Monday.

Wilkesy & Butler are 'down the pub' near the ground between 12 & 2, followed by Franksy & co doing the commentary from 2pm.

All together now.

# Heyyyy, Hey Jonesy #

# OO Ah OO ##

etc etc !

3 more shows, then bye bye Shabina.

Yippee !

There was a report at lunchtime and at 6:30 about Kay being at the BBC for thirty years. There was a nice report of Kay's work over the years, and then she was given flowers by Shefali.

Kay got rather emotional, didn't she? Understandable, really. And a brilliant compilation of moments from her time on Midlands Today.

I thought they might've got more people on to talk about her, not just Ashley Blake, who could only muster an inexplicable comment about her height.

Let's hope that Kay remains to report on the issues that matter to us in the Midlands (especially travel) for the next thirty years.

I'm sure that somebody has some captures...

yes a fantastic report!! and kay deserved every minute of it.

shame it wasnt slightly longer, a'la 30 years of bob warman over on central a while ago.

kay still has it in her and i think she is a criminally under-used reporter at pebble mill. she is as big a name as bob warman and ok, maybe she wouldnt want to co anchor anymore - but she deserves to be on the 6.30 tonnes more!

here are the captures:

kay is suprised by shefali who introduces the report just after the weather

Oh my god tvmercia! I saw this too. What triggered it off for me was when the weather screen behind Shefali changed to the generic Midlands Today one - and what a wonderful image on the plamsa screen for her!

Such a shame it couldn't have happened in an evening bulletin. They should let her co-present an evening bulletin with someone else like Micheal Collie for a change and then have done it then.

She has done a lot in her time at Midlands Today, and may I add - hasn't aged that much!

Back to WM now.

Sally James will be presenting a Friday afternoon show between 1 & 4, across the whole region, so have WM received a massive budget increase, because some presenters will be doing less hours, for example, Waddo & Julie will only be doing 4 days a week, rather than 5, & Boyden will only be doing 5 days, rather than 6, plus they've found money for a 'higher profile' presenter (if you can still call Sally high profile these days!)

For the record, what I've learned so far, for the schedule :

Monday to Friday

5am Early Show - Presenter ?

7am Breakfast - Adrian Goldberg/Annie Othen

10am Doolan

1pm Malc & Mollie(95.6)/Bob Brolly(CWR) Mon to Thurs/ Sally James Fridays region wide

4pm Franksy

7pm Evening progs

10pm Waddo & Julie(On Fridays, Daz Hale from 9pm, followed by Hip Hop prog at 11pm, then Jail Mail at midnight)

Currently listening to the pre match prog with Wilkesy & Butler, so

COME ON WOLVES !!!

(And I can't stand football !!)

Midlands Today have just unveiled some new titles - a 'rehash' of the existing ones including some of the old images and some new ones - I'm sure I saw one of the images from the South Today titles!! They look nice though, and they're now proper 14:9 rather than 4:3 cropped to 14:9 which meant the quality really looked poor.

Shefali is also presenting this lunchtime. One thing I am glad about these new titles is that they've not got rid of the old women in the field going "oooooo" - they've actually used new shots of them! Fab.

Intresting - NWT also used re-hashed titles at 1.30 today as well, one of the shots was from Look North Newcastle I think. And they were shown in 14:9 as well, rather than 4:3 cropped to 14:9 (stings still cropped though).

Yeah, they kept the metro station one and the teashop by the motorway ones as well. The new ones were of some football on a council estate and a wide shot of a school playing field, IIRC.

From lunchtime - Shefali presented as I said and James McDonald was on the weather:

Nick and Suzanne presented this evening (with the studio looking well lit for once!):

And here are the new titles:

Also, good to see Midlands Today know which case their font needs to be in (!) and that they're still providing their interviewees with the top technical equipment as ever:
