I noticed tonight that since Charlie Neil and Emma Jesson have been presenting local weather bulletins for other regions and not just Central, Emma has toned down her sign off from the annoying high pitched 'bye bye' to a more formal, normal 'goodbye'.
Doh! the things you notice eh?

Central Weather has really gone downhill in the last few weeks.
The new graphics are awful, the presenters are made to look as if they're going for an interview, and I quite miss the informality of Emma Jesson's high-pitched 'Bye Bye' at the end of each forecast.
Can't we go back to the old days of John Bannister appearing on Central News saying '... well hasn't it been a bloody awful day?'.
Then again, could be worse ... we could have Sally Meen back doing the forecasts.
central weather has become sh*te, its ever since the switch from wsi to the met office.
the presenters are still good - its just that the maps are useless, you just can tell where you are on the map anymore - the symbols are strange, and the picture quality seems poor. the presenters are still cheerful, but theres no point watchng the weather anymore.
wsi didnt do the 'flythrough', but it want needed, they had clear maps, skycast and summarys - plus a nice virtual studio
BRING BACK WSI !!!!

HTV Wales seem to get a raw deal out of this as well.
Not only are they getting the same rubbishy graphics as Central and HTV West, but they have Su Evans doing the forecast
I remember when Su was an on-screen announcer on ATV in the 70's / early 80s.
That's like asking Mike 'just now on ATV' Prince to do the forecast.
All regions should have a forecast provided by WSI with Charlie Neil and Emma Jesson providing the forecasts in their own 'casual but informative' style.
Can't understand why they were ever taken off GMTV and replaced by that Simon 'I only got this job by posing on Wheel of Fortune' Biaggi bloke.

i like su - shes very proffesional, and is a reminder of the original central
carlton are never gonna get a sponsor for their weathers if no-one watches it, as my family dont bother with central weather anymore, cos its useless

Success!
Emma Jesson has reverted back to her high-pitched 'Bye-Bye' instead of the formal 'Goodbye' that she has been using over the last few days.
I had to watch HTV West's weather at 3.25pm, because I couldn't believe what I saw on Central at 3.22pm.
She still looks like a dogs dinner though.
Wonder how many animals were killed to make the jacket that she's wearing today?
Lisa knows nothing about weather forecasting but makes up for it with looks and charm.

Make your mindup CRABHEAD. one min you are wanting the likes of John Bannister and his days of Central weather and the next you are knocking the wonderful Sue Evans and Mike Prince.
I happen to think that Sue Evans is a delight doing the weather and one of the few weather presenters these days who is NOT on a fashion show!!! or ego trip. Yes... Sue looks very good, sounds very good. Lets have more of her.

To be honest, I've only seen Lisa on Sky News Active and she looks very pretty.
However, with regards to relying on an accurate weather forecast, the BBC national forecasts are the only forecasts that I trust.
Having said that, the data and graphics provided by WSI to the Central weather presenters was such that the weather was usually accurate and far better presented than Shefali Oza's reports for BBC MIdlands Today (for the purposes of forecasting local weather).
Whether you believe the weather forecast or not, as suggested on 'It Shouldn't Happen to a Weatherman' recently, depends on how sincere you believe the forecaster/presenter to be.
Unfortunately, for me, Su Evans will always have the tag of TV announcer. Whereas, someone like Charlie Neil, who I used to listen to on BRMB years ago and probably didn't have a background in meterology, has been doing the job for over 10 years. Emma has for a similar amount of time.
I guess the ideal weather forecast has a combination of reliabilty of the accuracy of the forecast and sincerity from the person providing the forecast.
Therefore, for me, Bill Giles characterises the ideal national weather forecaster and Charlie Neil and Emma Jesson (because they have been doing the job for so long and, until recently, because you could rely on the data provided by WSI) characterised the ideal local weather presenters.
Also bear in mind that these two ladies have been as much an integral part of Midlands tea-time viewing in the 90s as Crossroads was in the 70s;whereas Su Evans seemed to disappear off the planet for several years.

What utter rubbish Crabhead and what a terrible meory you must have. Perhaps you had too much BRMB as a child.!!!
Sue Evans was also a very good presenter of a Central programme called 'Something to Treasure' in the early 80's and then went behind the scenes to be a Transmission Contoller.(In case you don't know what that is- thats the person responsible for the actual directing of transmission and responsible for the output of the particular station.)
Aswell as presenting the HTV weather she is also still to be heard announcing for Central ......Sorry Carlton's Central region.
Forget your bimbo weather presenters. we've certainly enough of those.Lets have the likes of Sue Evans. Looks good Sounds good. and NOT on an EGO trip.

Since when has Bill Giles been a bimbo weather presenter?
Did not know what Su Evans had been up to, so stand corrected.
