Anyone notice that now the bulletins come from the video wall thingy and the newsroom during the evening, but daytime bulletins stay in that glass wall thingy. Anyone got any more information on the relaunch?

Do you get the impression video walls are the 'in thing' at the moment?

as bob said on monday - hes infront of the chromakey, and lewella and the bob hall are in the newsroom - just while the decorators are in. i like the 'central news' written on the window in the newsroom - is that new?
bob said its the biggest set ever built at the studio and we'll see the 'spectacular' results on monday. it looks ok from wat theyve shown us - and i think i spotted a sofa wrapped in plastic - and did anyone see the ladders - they have the central logo on
oh - and it looks like a blue set
as for the arrangement this week, how come bob cant use the studio (with the bham skylinebehind) that they use at lunchtime and for the travel - would seem logical to me - rather than him standing up
call me synical - or is this relaunch scheduled to beat midlands today who are moving soon - and will therefore be getting a new studio
Anyway, I think they are a few tactics going on between the two programmes. Midlands Today is currently ahead in the ratings but apparently fast losing viewers to Central News, AGAIN! As they did in 1997.
I think if Central News gets it right then they could get a lot of viewers from the BBC. Central News East and South have been very successful.
East Midlands Today is trying to get viewers back by going all 'soft' and the BBC is just starting to get it viewers back in Oxfordhsire after the launched the opt out. Who'd want to watch Newsroom South East in Oxford?
Anyway, all will be revealed on Monday.

i read on another post on this forum that there were rumours they may be restoring the names central and westcountry - the reason i mention it now is that central news (west) recently changed the design of their microphones to say 'CENTRAL' instead of
CENTRAL
N E W S
could this be a sign?

The new look, launching 01/10/01, will be a modified version of the Central News East programme. The music is sort of the same, but not quite, and the studio will probably be radically different, with a sofa and coffee table, like BBC Breakfast. The set will also be the biggest they have ever had.
The Central News East format works well (even East Midlands Today have decided to copy it) and also has a great theme.
It will be interesting to see how similar Mr Daniel Barton has made it to Central News East, because its such a successful show and wins in the ratings over EMT.

Interesting that they're going straight from their SMALLEST set ever to what will be they're BIGGEST one ever.
I don't see how they can. As I've said previously on this forum, when I visited Carlton's Birmingham studios about a year ago, I got the impression there wasn't much space at all.
CiTV will have to move to another studio (which I presume would have to be at Nottingham Carlton, as I think there's only one studio at all at B'ham, which is used by Central News obv).
But even with CiTV removed, the studio that Central News West is in still wouldn't be particularly big as far as can tell - certainly no bigger than anything they've had before.
So, will they rent warehouse space or something?

i wasnt aware of citv moving - their studio hasnt changed at all whilst central news' is being built - and their address has stayed the same.
i thought there are 2 studios at bham, 1 big (used by citv) and 1 small (used by central news)
from the shots ive seen it looks like central news are just gonna make better use of the small space they have (for any 1 who didnt see the shots they showed us, theyre below)
