But CITV will be moving out thus freeing up some space for News East

but where - they have 1 modest sized studio used for citv and central news (far too small to be partitioned and used simultaneously)

Manchester or London.... it's yet to be decided

sorry, my post wasn't very clear, i meant where will central east move to within gas street.

Pre-tape Central News East and use the same studio as west?

No I meant mainland Britain as I said. Wales no longer have their own TX, and whilst the two Scottish stations aren't run from London there is a single TX operation for Scottish and Grampian, Central is the only station in mainland Britain to exclusively handle it's own TX.

Hmmm, I see what you mean (the word 'exclusively' wasn't that obvious before either) it's a bit of a tenuous claim, it's not really a big deal having it's own playout department anymore.

What bits of non-mainland Britain have that then (the Channel Islands aren't part of Britain AFAIK)

It wasn't meant to be a big deal, it was just a reply to someone who suggested that the 'redundant' tx area could be used to house a new studio for CN East (or house something anyway), I just pointed out that it's not redundant yet.
