If ITV had any sense (And they don't lately!) then it go back to a regional ITV. Because ever since it turned into '1' then they've been pulling shows & put a load of rubbish on our TV like mad which is not the ITV i knew! It might cost a lot for them but this could probably be the only thing they could do to get their ratings back up! Although another thing to blame could be digital TV as some people can bear to watch the rubbish on there than the rubbish on ITV.

Why would they do that? It might be a very popular programme for all we know.

Here's something depressing, Celebrity Love Island is going to be on ITV everyday of the week for several weeks. OH MY GOD!! Mad

It's obvious they're trying to get some momentum for this show to spoil Big Brother's ratings.

Talking of films, notice that Turner and Hooch was repeated on ITV1 around the same Bank Holiday as last year. Rolling Eyes (Still, I love it Wink )

Because it's such barrel scraping TV, they gone through the base of the barrel, and are scraping the ground beneath!

I sure as hell hope it isn't, and that it meets the exact same fate as that pointless "Celebrity Wrestling" rubbish.

If ITV bosses think "Celebrity Love Island" will be more popular than BIG Brother, they're living in cloud cuckoo land!

But how many viewers does a standard Big Brother daily round-up get, it's usually still a BBC2/Channel 4 type viewing figure isn't it?

Who's mentioned them saying it will be 'more popular' are you trying to say that every channel may as well closedown when Big Brother is on and there is no point trying?

Im not saying that it will be more popular than Big Brother, but with it being on ITV which gets more viewers than Channel 4 it might do better in the ratings. I guess it depends what people will prefer.

While I wish we could go back to a properly regional ITV, I don't see how going back to regional presentation would make any difference.

However, what we might be seeing is how the lack of a federal structure is affecting programme making. Whereas in the old days several players would fight it out to get their programmes on prime time, now virtually everything short of Taggart and ... um... well exactly that is produced by an ITV company is produced by ITV PLC.

Lack of competition never results in better standards. While the company is bigger and therefore has more funding, more money doesn't always equate into quality.

ITV is devoid of any creativity at the moment, reality shows, 'celebrity' obsession, copycat formats, and over reliance on a 'safe' core of shows is stifling innovation.

Nothing is given time, if it doesn't work straight away, it's cancelled, so you get few returning series, no building for the future, it's all short termism. If the BBC does something well, they'll copy it, and usually in an inferior fashion.

Yes, the balance sheet might look very rosy, with nice profits and the sale of 'non-core' assets ahead of schedule, but the core-asset, the product on screen is crumbling before our eyes.

I'm surprised at Nigel Pickard, I thought he had a better pedigree than this. I don't know if his funding is limited or whether he is being badly advised or what, but I think there needs to be a clearout.

Accountants don't make good programmes, and the sooner Greg Dyke can put together a takeover bid, the better. At least he understands the market, the industry and more importantly, the viewer.

Remember to add to all this it's now officially the summer in TV terms, we had practically a rerun of this last year with Simply The Best.

There will be nothing outstanding produced on any channel, once current series finish, until September, then it'll all start falling into place again.
