Someone on digitalspy (who works for ITV before Andrew complains!) is saying that advertisers arent interested in buying ad slots in Star Wars, so they might pull the film too!
Surely it would only take a little common sense to realise that people who like sci-fi will watch the brand new Dr Who instead of a 20yr+ film which has been repeated god knows how many times and will be chopped to bits. People who are fans of SW will aready have the DVDs, so why would they want to watch ITV1? Providing a non sci-fi alternative would be much better rather than aim at exactly the same audience as BBC1. There really do need to be changes in ITV now, the number of shows being pulled mid-series is astronomical compared to other networks, and its a pretty grim situation when people on boards like these can predict a show wont work, yet ITV commissioners cant!

If ITV have any sense (I doubt it) they'll ditch "Celebrity Love Island" before it even starts!

What about 3 or 4 per year. This will be the first one this year, hardly astronomical

I think he was saying it was astronomical 'compared to other networks'.

I was comparing it to other channels - name me one high profile prime time series Channel 4, five or BBC1/2 has dropped mid series. In the past year on ITV1 we've had : Celebrity Wrestling, that Lord Brockett show, The Block, Trouble in Paradise, Design Wars, Making Waves and those are the ones just off the top of my head. This just proves that programmes being pulled isnt a one off thing and is becoming ever more common hence the reasoning behind me saying changes need to be made.

I wasn't disagreeing with you one way or the other. I agree that the people at ITV need to wonder where all this celebrity 'reality TV' stuff is taking them.

Most of those arn't commercial channels were shareholders and advertisers expect the highest return at all times

I can't believe this, first people were rightly complaining how rubbish Celebrity Wrestling was and that it should be axed, and now people are complaining that it has been axed!

Not the first one this year - "Scream! If You Want To Get Off" was pulled in January, from just about the same slot.

Im not complaining because they were axed, Im complaining because i find it unbelievable that someone even thought these would be successful shows in the first place and decided to make them! I made a post on here when CW was announced that I thought it sounded awful and wouldnt last - now if I can see that, why couldnt someone at Grays Inn Rd? Ill make another prediction if I may - Celeb Love Island will perform terribly and will go in its fourth week. If im wrong, you can call me an idiot. I just hope that tonights Jungle programme does well and ITV decide to make more intelligent programming.

Why would they do that? It might be a very popular programme for all we know.
