I guess Paul O'Grady would be the nearest we've got to an all rounder that can get a laugh too.

Half surprised nobody's suggested a certain Greg Scott. Cool

Thats because ITV head yins would not understand the concept of having MORE than one person doing TV shows...

If they're going to try someone like Warwick Davis, then Peter Kay having never presented a game show isn't going to be an issue. Kay certainly has more experience than Warwick Davis.

Certainly but more experience than none isn't a guarantee of success either!

I tend to take the rumour and gossip about Kay being disliked by the industry (or more specifically other comedians) with a pinch of salt, especially considering the "feud" with Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice being blown out of all proportion. Some rumours (such as the one about him stealing jokes) were proven to be out-and-out lies.

I've never heard anything about him stealing jokes, quite the opposite in fact - he uses his own jokes, just no new ones! He didn't exactly do any favours with his DVD releases in recent years.

I don't think his falling out with his co-writers on Pheonix Nights was a one off

I never said it was a guarantee of success - I was pointing out that a lack of game show credits wouldn't necessarily be a barrier, especially considering he hosted the BRIT awards one year, and a couple of other programmes.

The people complaining about the DVDs are the sort of people who don't read descriptions and buy blind. If you watch the different tours, you come to realise that the only jokes that are repeated are the ones that have reached quasi-catchphrase status. Observational comedy lends itself to being repeated, so it happens more with him than many other comedians.

The only other supposed fall-outs I've seen seem to be vague whispers from a colleague of a friend. Dave Spikey has said himself that the "feud" was blown out of proportion by both sides and by the media. Some people also don't seem to realise what the argument was actually about, only having heard about it second hand.

Come off it, if you mean what I think you mean that misnomers been dispelled before on this very forum.

ITV have many different presenters on it's gameshows alone and has tried out many different presenters too. It clearly has some flagship presenters who get more gigs than most, but it's common sense to develop and push some faces of the channel.

I mean they commissioned a Warwick Davies fronted pilot, for goodness sake, that's what this bloody thread is about. It makes your point look beyond stupid.

Is it Warwick Davis we are talking about here as there is no Warwick Davies, well not according to Google anyway.

Google returns 23,000 hits for Warwick Davies... and some of them are genuine.

Yes, it's Warwick Davis we're talking about - Davis/Davies is one of those names that people always get mixed up.

How about Chris Tarrant or maybe Vernon Kay?
Maybe there could be some women around who could present it?
With all this talk of ITV presenters we've probably filled the Celebrity Squares already.

Chris Tarrant could be a good candidate he used to present Cluedo back in the day, but I don't know if he would want to present something like this, Vernon Kay I think Family Fortunes and Splash is enough work for him.

Sorry I was simply referring to the title of the thread in checking the spelling of the name, I should have probably looked it up myself as I didn't think it look right.
