It will probably end up a Phillip Schofield vehicle now that Dancing On Ice is finishing.

Although you get the impression they want a slightly left of field host, if they went for Davies for the pilot.

Warwick Davis is less out of left field and more completely untried. I reckon they'll go for someone comedic if they deem Warwick Davis unsuitable.

Well I more or less meant they're go for more of character or comedian than straight presenter.

Very few pilots get broadcast. The whole point of a pilot is to trial it before it's commissioned for broadcast.

Maybe Peter Kay? He hasn't done much lately.

Oh blimey no, that's a terrible suggestion. I can't stand him but even so he'd be awful at it.

I hope they haven't gone for some sort of ridiculous new music for this revamp. Hopefully they'll revamp and arrange Rick Turk's music from the 90's.

On the Keith Lemon note, Yes he's good for Celebrity Juice, and Froo T'Keyole, but I just don't see him doing a 'joe bloggs' gameshow. I would have like to see someone like Bradley Walsh, but I'm guessing he's tied up with The Chase and other things...

I suspect for the pilot they used any appropriate sounding track, as far as I know a series hasn't been commissioned. I'll doubt they're use a remix of the original as it's not that iconic compared to lets of other gameshow themes.

Filming The Chase won't take up much of the year, not sure if he's got any acting commitments at the moment. But as it'll likely be a primetime show filming a series of Celebrity Squares should only take a few days. Can't see him getting the gig with The Chase still being quite strong it could make scheduling a bit awkward if they want a Celebrity Squares repeat on the same Saturday night as The Celebrity Chase for example.

Being the TV fanatic he is, he'd probably be a more than competent host. Dave Spikey couldn't even say "darts" properly, and he landed the Bullseye revival job.

Peter Kay hasn't really done any presenting though has he? A show like that needs someone showbiz who's done big shiny floored Saturday night LE shows. Unfortunately most of those are dead or not on the telly any more... except Brucie.

Besides I got the feeling that Peter Kay wasn't that popular in the industry, if so they might have trouble booking guests

Really? He seems to be able to get the people he wants for his projects, Gary Barlow, Cat Deeley, Pop Idol judges etc and all the people that did Amarillo. I'd say you'd get just as many people doing that kind of thing because it's Kay than wouldn't because it is.

Not saying he'd be a good choice necessarily, but I find it an odd comment when most of his more memorable recent projects have featured a large number of celebrity cameos.

EDIT: Having said that the calibre of celebrity wasn't that high in the Amarillo video.

If they're going to try someone like Warwick Davis, then Peter Kay having never presented a game show isn't going to be an issue. Kay certainly has more experience than Warwick Davis.

I tend to take the rumour and gossip about Kay being disliked by the industry (or more specifically other comedians) with a pinch of salt, especially considering the "feud" with Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice being blown out of all proportion. Some rumours (such as the one about him stealing jokes) were proven to be out-and-out lies.
