ITV won't give up though. I can't see them pulling the current show to be honest. They'll just ram it down the viewers throats at every given opportunity...i.e. during Corrie credits, promos, help from GMTV etc...in the hope that ratings will pick up. They've already started scriptingly praising it on The Mint and other ITV Play shows That'll be the next thing.. The Love Island Quiz Rolling Eyes . Comes to something when they have to put an practically unknown participant (Paul Danan) from last years series...back in!

If it doesn't pick up ratings it will be ITV's biggest embarrassment along with the awful Celebrity Wrestling. I really hope for the numbskulls at ITV HQ that this is the case.

How would they go about cancelling a reality show? Presumably they would have to inform the participants and fly them home immediately.

Not to mention they'd have to pay them agreed sums; when Crossroads ended early, the cast were still paid for the original duration of their contracts.

How embarrassing for ITV.

The sheer stupidity of ITV seems to know no bounds. The company is suffering serious management failure; it wants to axe CITV (an essential way of attracting young viewers to the channel and retaining them), or they come up with "action plans" with the aim of attracting more ABC1s but what they promise, ie. less one-off dramas, will do anything but.

Look what happened when they did that last year. Writers complained about having to produce extra episodes and the already thinly-spread soap experience further losses in quality.

To even think that Corrie will boost a sinking ship is a complete fallacy. Corrie fans will watch whenever it's on, and once it's finished they'll switch over.

It's probably more likely to be moved to off-peak than cancelled completly - though saying that ITV have nothing really to fill the 10pm slot it would vacate.

Don't think any "live" reality show has been pulled in the UK.

In Germany the "never ending" Big Brother ended after a year, while another "never ending" show in the US, (Forever Eden?) got pulled after just a few episodes with a few episodes remaining unaired so I don't think the ending was estabhlished.

I'm sure though they'd just sell it as a "twist" that the show is ending earlier than planned!

I have to admit that as much as I loved last year's Love Island, I'm already giving up on this one. Patrick and Fearne are great, but the rest of them are just boring. I only know who a few of them are, and none of them are interesting enough to keep me watching (although seeing them squirm - with delight or dread - at having to evict one of their fellow islanders last night was classic!) They better not! It would be an insult to Corrie and its fans for them to move it to "carry" another tacky reality/celeb show.

Someone on DS has just posted these as Friday's figures:

Big Brother - 5.9m (30.6%)
Love Island - 1.5m (7.7%)

Ouch!

Alicia Douval has walked out after islanders had to vote someone off and half refused to vote and now are on strike saying that it is the public who should decide not the non-clebs. They aren't wearing microphones and arent doing anything until it's sorted

This is the gist of the article in the Ireland on Sunday
