After seeing the list of "ten celebrities" five has locked up on The Farm (I though I'm a Celeb stretched it a bit - this is just ridiculous!), I'm wondering if there is an actual legal definition of the word "Celebrity".

In that case, can we sue?

If you can't sue on the definition of Celebrity you can certainly sue on the count of "entertainment" or lack of.

Unfortunately, I don't think so - can you imagine, we'd all become millionaires with the blood of ITV all over our hands!

Answers.com say:

Quote:
[Middle English celebrite, fame, from Old French, from Latin celebritās, from celeber, celebr-, famous.]
ce·leb'ri·ty·hood' n.

SYNONYMS celebrity, hero, luminary, name, notable, personage. These nouns refer to a widely known person: a social celebrity; the heroes of science; a theatrical luminary; a big name in sports; a notable of the concert stage; a personage in the field of philosophy.

Then there is Five's view of celebrity:

Anyone who has been seen on television at least once in a programme.

I was on 'Here & Now' on BBC1 in 1996. Does that make me a celebrity?

Yes definitely.

I was in the school crowd for summat David Bellamy did years ago and we nearly went on Knightmare so I demand to be a celebrity too.
