You're obviously not as 'well up' as you thought if you've only heard of two of them. I think the race row still hangs over the show (even three years on) which is why they have a difficulty signing up British celebs. Pre-race row the majority of contestants were British, in fact I think in the first 2 series' we didn't have one American!

In the first two series though the celebs weren't getting paid for it. Damn I'm a Celeb for throwing the notion of doing such a show for charity out of the window!

That aside a great launch show - such a difference when they actually put some effort in, and all the changes made were changes for the better.

About 7m people watched last night (ratings are 5.9m peaking at 6.7m and thats without +1) and if they can manage that with tweaks with the state Big Brother is in, perhaps what they could have achieved if they had made all of these changes for BB8 or 9 given that the summer series is historically more watched than the winter series (except for CBB4)!

It probably has, but barring last years CBB there hasn't been a Friday launch since 2005 so Wednesday/Thursday at 9pm is probably just as good a slot.

Always thought Sunday would be a good launch night as it gives the show the weeknights to bed in. Launching at the end of the week just sees the audience lost in the usual weekend dip.

That said I hope we don't see the same mistake they make every year with episode 2 and spend the first half hour recapping the launch show. There should just be a quick recap of who's who (preferbly before the titles) and then pick up from where the launch show left off.

I'm rather disappointed they didn't go with the orchestral version they used on the trails. I note rent-a-moron-crowd are still there being overly loud. How annoying.

Although the use of music during the show drowned out the crowd for the most part. Only Alex Reid really got noticeably booed.

Interesting development, Channel 4 (or Endemol) have uploaded the entire launch show to Youtube. A sign that they're gearing up for an online-only launch once BB has gone from C4? Its something they have spoken about in the past.

Well it stops people uploading it, which they did not like, and i think YouTube announced last year that full shows can now be uploaded by broadcasters. I'm sure ive seen online ads for Neighbours.

I'm guessing that's more to do with the fact that 4OD is now on YouTube than anything BB specific.

Yeah, all C4 shows are now uploaded to YouTube. Five and ppssibly the BBC also have deals too for full shows - a shame broadcasters don't have a similar attitude to torrents
