From BBC News:

The audience for Friday's coverage peaked at 8.8 million between 2245 and 2300 GMT, according to the unofficial overnight figures. The entire show averaged 7.8 million.

In comparison, an average of 7.7 million saw Pete Bennett win the last non-celebrity version of Big Brother in August - Channel 4's biggest audience of 2006.

That easily makes it the most watched eviction ever.
So in actual fact, she got the biggest crowd!

When is the first sponsership sting to be played? I still havn't seen one yet. ARe they saving it 'til tonight?

I was also worried about how davina would conduct her interview - but it was very professional and appropriate. Also liked how they started the interview with a montage of news headlines.

...Was'nt that the same montage they used in the 8.30pm show except for cutting it short at the end where the Sky News clip ended it.

Davina was better than usual, but the interview wasn't really that hard on her at all.

If this all gets buried now it'll be a disgrace.

Big Brother is past its sell by date. C4, Endemol, everyone; time to move on guys.

They also inserted a Jeremy Paxman clip.

Maybe Jade Gobby is racist, maybe she isn't. Maybe Shilpa is up-her-own-a*se, maybe she isn't.

One thing's for sure, though: Racist or not, Jade Gobby is a talentless nobody. Fact.

The lack of a crowd to cheer and/or boo at Jade's eviction, and just deathly silence instead, is precisely what a complete-and-utter "nobody" who mistakenly thinks that they are "somebody" deserves! Evil or Very Mad

Mr Livingstone really annoying me today - not averse to his own racist controversies.

He's going on about dumbing down and pulling the programme etc. - but surely when a programme generates international headlines on a complex issue it can hardly be accused of being "dumped down" TV.

In fact, the only ones dumbing down are probably the news programmes that covered it in so much depth.

Also, blatant hypocracy from News International - slag her off in The Sun, buy her story for the News of the World!

Davina never really asked why Jade decided to pick on Shilpa nor what Shilpa had done to Jade that started it which i wanted to know.

I gathat it was Jade's ignorance of Shilpa's culture, and Jade mis-reading Shilpa's Indian mannerisms as fake and ingenuine, and Jade getting a bee-in-her-bonnet. Which, in my opinion, isn't racist, but, as C.4. say, cultural ignorance. I do not think that 'cultural ignorance' is a P.C. eutamism for 'racism'. I regard racism as a biological thing, and cultural ignorance a break down in communiation, due to conflicts with mannerisms.
