Excellent response from Channel 4's Chief Executive, Andy Duncan.
Keep showing the programme, let these celebrities dig their own graves.
In the words of Richard Bacon: "Send them all back where they came from... OBSCURITY."

Good on the Carphone Warehouse. Although I think their pull-out will give them more press time than if they keep it going.
On a more presentation-related note, it'll be strange seeing Big Brother without sponsorship ads. They have been there since Big Brother 1 (I think it was originally sponsored by Southern Comfort).
The logo has now disappeared from the website (as well as their own site):

The Carphone Warehouse posted:
The Carphone Warehouse suspends Celebrity Big Brother sponsorship
18th January 2007: The Carphone Warehouse Group (“Carphone Warehouse”) today announces that it is suspending its sponsorship of Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother programme.
Charles Dunstone, CEO of The Carphone Warehouse said:
“Our concern has rapidly mounted about the broadcast behaviour of individuals within the Big Brother house. We are totally against all forms of racism and bullying and indeed this behaviour is entirely at odds with the brand values of The Carphone Warehouse. As a result we feel that as long as this continues we are unable to associate our brand with the programme.
We had already made it clear to Channel 4 that were this to continue, we would have to consider our position. Nothing we saw last night gave us any comfort. Accordingly we have instructed Channel 4 to remove our sponsorship name and branding with immediate effect.”

I think loosing (temporarily or whatever) the support from the carphone warhouse who have seen bb through the last couple of series must be a big blow to c4/endemol and show them how serious this is.
What I can't believe is that the producers of BB didn't do a live questioning or something and put a zero telerance policy to jade and jo and danielle. I think tomorrow's live will be hard to watch if its just as normal and if the issue is just mentioned casually, hopefully they'll make the hms fully aware of whats going on.

At risk of repeating myself, you get to a point where you think Big Brother can't possibly get worse but then it does.
End this sorry programme now.

Isn't 'Big Brother' about showing the social strains of a group of people agreeing to share a house? Hasn't there always been disagreements? I havn't watched 'Big Brother' properly before, this is the first series that I have watched properly, so I cannot compare this conferentation with other ones.
I still think that Jade has come to a conclusiong - that I think is wrong - that Shilpa is fake, and snobbish, and has acted way out of line in response to barking up this tree. She's seen characteristics in Shilpa - that, like I typewrote earlier, I don't think are true - and is 'retaliating' to them, even if there is no reason to retaliate. Where Jade definately crossed the line, was, when once Shilpa had said "I take that back, I meant '. . .'.", Jade continued with her line of interrogation, to try to get her to admit. Shilpa knew she had admitted her slip, and when Jade was still following a second confession, she realised that Jade was trying to get her to admit that she was wrong, all wrong, and taking advantage of the situation with her slip, and walked away.
I think i agree with C.4. that it is cultural differences and ignorance that have caused this. Jade has read, in my opinion, Shilpa's manner(ism)s as 'I'm better than you, I'm brought-up, and educated, people stand up when I walk in, and I'm famous for actually doing something!', and even part of playing a 'game'. Jade has a blind faith in this, and has acted on this.
Jo even stated that she suspected Shilpa as being a mole. I think that it is this ignorance with respect to what Shilpa's mannerisms are, and their motivation, and the blind faith and conviction some of the housemates hold towards their assumptions surrounding Shilpa's mannerisms, is what is causing the conflict. Yes, I think, that the conflict is caused by Shilpa arriving from another country, that has a distinct culture compared to the British Isles' culture, and misunderstandings developing, but the conflict isn't deliberatly instigated because she is of another country.
Cleo: "I went to bed last night [the night before lastnight, now] thinking about where it all went wrong [or something like that]" (this was before she said the thing about Jack's comment). I'm speculating that Cleo, was, last night, just trying to understand jade's viewpoint, and speaking like she agreed, when the cues for her to speak arrived, whilst listening.
I think that it is absolutely ridiculous the hype that is surrounding this. Gordon Brown and Tony Blair?! Sponserhip pull-outs. It is a television programme with agreeing contestants, who can pull out at any time, with ominpresent monitering inside the house. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think th is is an example of racism, and it is disapointing that a nationwide debate is about something that I think fringes on racism, if it is racism. It highlights that politicians are failing doing their job, if it takes a television programme to get people debating about very important issues. Also, this debate about racism, mandates the accusation of people, behind their back, when they are not there to defend themselves. This being done by the Cabinet! Of course the Hm. knew that they'd be debated by 'B.B.' fans, but member's of parliament and the Cabinet?! The George Galoway thing was different, because it was his place of work, and the other M.P. were finding it questionable that he was taking so long off, away from his constituency.
H is blameless, in my opinion, he's tried to stay neutral to Jade's &c. and Shilpa's argument, identified bullying, and has distanced himself from it, not choosing a particular side. We can't expect him to speak up against it, he knows that B.B. knows, there's the peer pressure &c. He has resisted going with the flow, by joining in.
I remember what Danielle said, and, I think that her statement could be said to communicate a racist idea. I obviously, cannot fully know what she meant, but, to stay impartial, perhaps she was suggesting she go back home, away from the "most mortifying experience of [her] life".
I'd like to finish by stating that there wasn't the hype AFAI can remember with Shabaz' treatment in the summer.

I assume this will have no financial implications a far as the deal is concerned. So they took the decision after seeing last night's episode Big Brother has always been about conflict and there have been worse instances than last nights episode so it's obviously more to do with the racism issue than anything else. Can't say I'll miss those tacky ads anyway.
