These things happen in live broadcasts, professionalism only comes in to play with how you deal with a fault. Id argue that fading the music in halfway through would be less professional than just letting it go out silent.
On BB Bit on the Side it seemed someone forgot to fade up the theme music going into one of the breaks meaning a silent jib shot fading into the titles.
