These name captions and excessive music are putting me off watching!

Channel 5 are really over producing it, they're trying too hard and over thinking what viewers actually want. I can't get into it at all and I'm usually hooked by day 2.

According to CBB BOTS, channel5 no longer have archive footage from previous bb's.
Presumably channel 4 have kept this or it has been destroyed when BB was buried (but I'm sure there's some regulation that all footage must be kept for at least ten years after broadcast although, that may just be the BBC)

Obviously I have to firstly say that the change in style of the format of the highlights was something we should have expected. It was announced a few days ago or so, but still, Channel 5 were never going to go with the same style that it has been in the past (well, before CBB 2010 and BB11 anyway).

However... I don't like it. I feel as though that Big Brother should always try to be a lot more traditional, a lot more understated and a lot less glamorous. No music, no flashy editing and dramatic voiceover on the coming up and previously scenes, no housemates on the stings, no astons showing us the names - just very basic, very stripped drown, showing the bare essentials. That is what made Big Brother stand out from the crowd. I wonder if it would have been different if it had been bought before Richard Desmond bought the station?

But, I guess I'll just have to get used to it. I will say though that the show is now looking very tacky with these zelebs, with those awful titles, the cartoonish eye - it's not really the "social experiment" anymore is it? It's just like any other reality show people despise. That's what gets ratings, but it's not what gets public approval.

I hope people agree with me when I say Big Brother series 1 to 4 were the series when the whole nation was watching, series 5 was when we were still watching but it was starting to just become a bit of a freak show, and from series 6 or more likely 7 on it was just pretty much reality dribble - even if it managed to keep it's traditional format right until the penultimate series on Channel 4.

I'll probably keep watching, but now it really is not something I'll be bringing up in a conversation as an exciting, innovating and eye-opening must-watch anymore - even though it hasn't really been for a few years.

I didn't mind the music/montages etc during CBB7/BB11, they weren't that bad (minus the housemates flying out of the house during BB11... Worst CGI ever!?!) - It's too 'overdone'.

Half of the conversations during tonight's highlights seemed scripted and I'm disliking Marcus 2.0 very much! Even BB seems to be talking to them differently, or am I just being picky now? Laughing

As for Bit on the Side... Goodness me, kill me now! Why are the VTs so delayed? The presenters seem to wait a good few seconds and just stare into the camera before they start, looks stupid... And as for that spunking dog?! Even Russell Brand would turn his nose up at THAT!

There must have been a problem with Big Brother's Bit on the Side this evening. The VTs haven't been delayed like that in previous episodes. I did laugh at the beginning, unlike the people in the audience.

The presenter (the EPG still says it is Emma Willis) introduced a clip with a joke and the clip appeared but didn't play. They carried on and she did the second joke whereupon clip 1 played out so the joke didn't make any sense.

I also didn't understand the Marvin/eff off joke I probably missed an in-joke somewhere (I didn't watch the main programme this evening)

Interesting to see that Christian Manley is a presenter on this programme. Some members of TVForum may remember Christian Manley from Nation 277. Some members won't even remember Nation 277.

As for the dog, I believe it was actually urinating not ejaculating.

They just said they didn't have archive of John McCririck demanding diet coke. I wouldn't read too much in to this other than the production team not bothering or not being able to get hold of the footage at 10pm on a Saturday night. I seem to remember that Big Brother's Little Brother made no reference to earlier series during the first few series of Big Brother. They didn't even have previous housemates on as guests did they?

The 11am Saturday repeat of Friday's 'live' episode had the ending redone to remove the bit where Bentley messed up the numbers and someone else messed up the pictures/graphics.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought this!

There's no rule about keeping anything for 10 years even at the BBC. Every TV and radio station has to keep a recording of it's output for 42 days but that only needs to be a low quality viewing copy

I very much doubt that the archive of previous series would have been destroyed - It's only really likely to get used again for clip sales but still worth keeping. Of course not everything would get kept, it would just take up too much room, I would have thought just the daily highlights/live C4 shows and possibly BBLB/BBBM

The footage would belong to Endemol not Channel 4, though they presumably contractually have some rights over the footage which would prevent C5 having access. I'd have thought that Channel 5 would have to pay to use any clips of previous Big Brothers just like any other broadcaster

The only thing I remember Nation 277 for is Flipside TV.

In the full series, housemates will be able to discuss nominations for the first time.
