Not sure if this as already been mentioned, but Big Brother are changing the audition process for the main programme next summer.

Big Brother will be ten in 2009 and if you fancy being part of it we've made it easier than ever before to audition.

Head on over to our audition channel on YouTube and upload a video of yourself to launch your own bid to be a housemate in Big Brother 10.

Avoid the queues! If we like your video you'll be invited to exclusive invitation only audition days.

We've included a few tips from past housemates to get you started, so tell us about you, be creative and good luck.

Sound like it could also be cost saving at the same time as appearing to be something new.

Well it is in addition to the open auditions, rather than a replacement for.

They tried it a couple of years ago when the relaunched E4.com - but the site crashed on the first day and it was swiftly forgotten about.

The first ad aired tonight before Peter Kay - nothing too exciting, just a variation of the BB9 ads (which themselves were effectively variations of the ads from the last 5 years anyway!)

So its been confirmed the red button live feed is to go. Not a bad move considering not many people knew about it/watched it but I doubt that lot over on DSBB will be happy Laughing

I've just been looking at that forum and you're right - they're up in arms. It's hilarious actually. Apparently, despite it running in total for a quarter of a year, Channel 4 don't care about Big Brother anymore. Our very own Brekkie - who remember hates complainers - has urged everyone to complain to Ch4. Although he's keen to point out it's not complaining it's "constructive criticism". I've just looked at the complete over reaction. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be but its still quite bad, but there are a fair few people supporting Channel 4 which is odd to say the least Laughing

Although I am a fan of the show I do find it scary how some get so obsessed with it to the point that the news of no live feed has ruined their Christmas Shocked. It also begs the question, do they have lives and anything better to do? (coming from the one sat moaning about them Embarassed Laughing)

No matter what they do a decision won't be reversed so its a pointless exercise.

Of course. In fact if anything it's praise - we're asking for more! Wink

Basically though today C4 announced they were axing Big Brother - it doesn't take a genius to work out that if they really cared about the show and wanted to revive it, they wouldn't be axing the 24 hour stream. So rather than pulling stunts like this and publicly claiming they're "proud" of the show and stating it does have a future, be honest with those who stuck with it and let it end with a bit of dignity rather than a lingering death sentence.

Or looking at it from another angle they are ridding of ways to watch Big Brother which aren't justified enough, and are putting more money, time, effort and resources into other aspects of the show. All they care about is the website recieving a lot of hits and the main show getting over 3m, and to a lesser extent the spin offs performing well. Just because they've ditched the live feed doesn't mean they've given up.

Yes, they've definitely just announced the axing of the show....or....maybe, eight years ago the live feed was a bit more important as far as peddling the idea of a new TV format where you can watch it whenever you want, pick the cameras, its all NEW, and no-one's done it before, and it's all exciting!

Now, if anything, the show has settled so that in lieu of a new and exciting selling point, it's all about the highlights show. The live feed is solely for the benefit of the DS WHATM whores. What I'm trying to say is, the live feed was never about actually servicing the whims of people who actually watch it for hours on end, but was just part of selling a new brand - the illusion of control/voyeurism etc.

Other than this tiny niche, I doubt anyone else actually watches it. It's redundant, it can go, and a loud but ultimately unimportant small band of people are deeply irrelevant to C4 right now.

Oh, and for the show ending with a little dignity...are you f*cking serious?

But that's no fun! Laughing

Live streaming though is the whole ethos of the show, and is what sets it apart from most other reality shows. It's also basically a 24-hour promo loop for the show, and removing it is more likely to decrease ratings than boost them.

But if noone watches the live feed in comparison to the highlights then what impact will it have? And don't bring the media into this, they stopped covering Big Brother after CBB5 so "the media use the forums to generate stories". Its not a valid excuse. BB can settle and survive on 3m viewers, it did it during BB9 and Channel 4 said they were happy. Looking at viewing figures across the board for them, they were happy indeed. Lets bring a similar show into it. I'm a Celebrity also had the "24/7" slant on it when it first started, watch every move etc. They axed the live feed and this year was one of its best performing years.
