Celebrity Big Brother

So another series of Celebrity Big Brother is starting on Channel 4 on January 5th 2006.

Any news on what lovely Z list celebs we can expect to see? Rumour has it Boy George is set to star.

One thing we know for sure is that BBLB is expected to take up residence in a new morning slot when the Celebrity Big Brother starts. Digital Spy continues...

The move coincides with Dermot O'Leary's appointment as host of a new Channel 4 breakfast show, Morning Glory. BBLB, likely to air at 8am, will be renamed Celebrity Big Brother's Little Breakfast to accompany the switch. The new breakfast slot could become the permanent home for the show when the main series returns next summer: its existing teatime slot is now filled by a successful block of shows including Deal or No Deal and Richard & Judy.

Along with Boy George, other rumoured "celebs" are Esther Rantzen, Daniel McPherson (Neighbours/The Bill), Anna Nicole Smith and Dennis Rodman (US basketball).

Some confirmed things:

CBB begins Thu 5 Jan with hour long shows nightly at 9pm - except on Sun 8 Jan when it screens in 30-min shows at 8.00pm and 9.30pm around the premiere of Invasion.

Little Brother is replaced by Little Breakfast on weekdays at 8am (followed by Morning Glory), but continues in it's Sunday lunchtime slot. Big Mouth will air six days a week at 10pm after the 4 show on E4. Diary Room Uncut is on Mon/Wed/Fri at 7.30pm.

E4 has live coverage from 10.30pm through to about 3pm the next day - but no word about Freeview viewers getting the interactive service back (Quizcall now occupy the space!) - meaning we'll miss out the core part of the day.


Also of note, Shipwrecked returns to C4 after five years on Sun 8 Jan. This time it's Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands with two tribes - the Sharks and the Tigers. Each week one new person arrives and spends three days with each tribe before deciding who to live with. The tribe with the most members at the end of the series wins £70,000.

Any more news on the house ?
On the trailers there are snippets of the house,from what i can see the duvets have been changed to multi-colour circles. Not sure if they may change to the green sofa though ?

The Big Mouth ad has Russell Brand walking round the house and everything seems the same. No changes to kitchen or lounge at least.

Last time Celebrity Big Brother happened IIRC there was No Interactive service at all, just the normal Live E4 stream, as these people are so called celebrities, theres probably more stuff in the contracts in what they can and cannot do.

I'm a bit píssed off there's no E4 Music for a week and a bit, shame they can't stick it on More4 until Lunchtime, but we'll probably have no E4 Music at all during the summer.

I don't understand why they can't put E4 Music on E4+1 and have the BB coverage on E4. It's madness having two channels streaming Big Brother, and last summer it was even worse with three channels - the live stream as well!

You mean you're not looking forward to 3 weeks of 24/7 fancy dress coverage?

Who needs E4 Music when you can have live streaming of celebs sitting in boxes

I'm looking forward to Celebrity Big Brother, a great way to start the New Year. Boy George could be interesting but he'll have some way to go to beat the entertainment factor of John Mc Cririck!

Just noticed in the Big Mouth ad they've added a sauna to the house again - it's probably the old Loft!

As for E4+1 - I found it very useful in the summer as whenever I tuned into E4 I normally had just missed something happening, so could go back in time with E4+1 and catch it in full.

E4 Music is designed as a filler for when BB isn't on air, so will be dropped when neccessary. Don't know how well it's doing, but if C4 are considering launching a new channel I think a 24-hr music channel is one of the better alternatives.

The Sauna is said to be were the old Room 101 was (next to the diary room) At the bottom of the garden is a shed like thing and the duvets have been changed to multi-colour circles.

I do sincerley hope that they have moved the showers indoors - having external ablutions in the winter would seem a tad primative.

The duvets have been changed because they can't get hold of the old ones any more, they've been discontinued (back when I worked in a store, I helped our press office supply some bits for the BB house).
