I urge people not to watch Celebrity Love Island.

With New Tricks on BBC One against it, anyone who DOES watch it will be clearly stating to the world that they haven't got a braincell and just want to watch brainless television.

The people who DO want to watch it will probably miss it because they haven't even got the intelligence to read the television listings in The Daily Sport.

I see that Patrick Kielty is presenting it. He seems to be making a living out of presenting second rate reality shows Didn't he have quite a decent career at one point?

Patrick Kielty's finest hour was his BBC NI show PK Tonight, which ran 1995-1996, and in which he was genuinely funny. Then in february 1996 canary wharf was bombed by the IRA and things weren't the same for him after that. That night he threw the script away on air.

Did I hear the ITV announcer say that from tonight we'll be hooked? Yes, hooked from staying away from this channel. And he was even doing a countdown, 'Celebrity Love Island, in Four hours.'

Good article here from Media Week:

Quote:
The stakes could hardly be higher when celebrities including Callum Best, Lee Sharpe and Michael Greco jet off for Celebrity Love Island tonight.
And that's not just in the matter of which one of them will manage to get to go for a roll beneath the coconut trees with Abi Titmuss or Rebecca Loos.

At ITV, which is in the midst of an audience slump on its flagship ITV1 channel, hopes are high the programme will get it back on track.

One TV source said: "It has hit or miss written all over it. Either it will get 8 million or more, or it could get 4 million or even lower."

Meanwhile Five's reality show, The Farm, is hoping to beat its record for audiences so far this year (of 1.2 million) and for new levels of bad taste, with Emma Noble's exploits with a turkey.

What's betting it will get 4 million or lower?

I think I speak for everyone on this forum (and most of the UK actually) that ITV really has gone over the top with 'Celebrity' this 'Celebrity' that. 1) They aren't celebs. 2) There is too much of this sort of thing! If they think it's going to beat Big Brother, they are madder than I thought!

Hmm. Twenty minutes in and I think she could have called it a steaming pile of ca-ca.

That would be nearer the mark.

I quite liked the opening sequence. The way the palm trees and island were turned into heart shapes! Almost reminded me of the old 'hearts' era! Im sure if the hearts were still in use there would have been a great set of idents for the series!

Indeed, and SMG have dropped live coverage tonight at 11 p.m.and Thursday, in favour of regional programmes.

Hardly an original title sequence - very Paradise Hotel!

And did anyone else get the feeling the script was written for Ant and Dec?

As for Kelly Brook - I thought she was unfairly treated when she was on The Big Breakfast and added more to the show than given credit for - but she was awful tonight, and Patrick Kietly - who I find usually find quite watchable - didn't look comfortable.

The less said about the celebs the better me thinks!

I watchedthe first minutes of it then decided to watch the more intellectual documentaries on Channel 4 and Five. This will surely be another huge flop for ITV1. I can't believe they put on this rubbish when they could put on so many other better shows that have dissappeared from the schedules.

I doubt that Celebrity Love Island will make the ITV50 Chart later in the year! Rolling Eyes
