News just in from ITV1:

Tonight’s edition of Love Island has been cast into doubt because of a massive storm ravaging the Fijian Islands.

Over the last few days, the weather on Love Island has deteriorated rapidly.

Last night, the storm struck.

Six foot waves and 65-mph winds battered the Island, leaving both the celebrities and crew stranded.

An official ITV spokesperson sent us this report from Fiji:

‘The eye of a tropical storm has swept the Island resulting in power cuts and the residents on the Island being stranded. This means that the presenters, crews and production staff are unable to get on or off the Island.’

‘The storm has winds of up to 65mph causing rain to come through the roof, electricity cutting out for large periods of time, and producers are having to edit the show on the mainland.’

‘This does mean we might struggle to get Patrick and Kelly across to the island for the live show because the seas are too rough.’

‘If we can’t go ahead as normal, we’ll not be able to do an eviction either.’

Storm hits 'Celebrity Love Island'

A strong storm system over the islands of Fiji has made it unlikely that a live Celebrity Love Island will air on ITV tonight.

A statement from the network says:

"A tropical storm is currently ravishing the island resulting in power cuts and the residents on the Island being stranded.

"Obviously this means that the presenters, crews and production staff are unable to get on or off the Island.

"Every effort is being made to get an hour long live show out tonight, however the likelihood is that we will be unable to do so and therefore, with no access to the Island, we will be unable to evict one of the contestants."

In the event that ITV is unable to transmit an hour-long live show, the network plans to run a repeat of yesterday's episode followed by "unseen/live coverage" at 21:30.

Seems like God's pi**ed off with this program as well. Laughing Twisted Evil

Publicity stunt - or just a convenient excuse to axe the show?

Also, hate the way ITV are treating it's viewers in promoting CLI. All tonight it was "as you may have heard" re: the storm - but in fact, no one had heard and no one cared!

Its not been axed, it wasnt possible to show a live program tonight due to the storm, instead they showed a repeat of last nights at 9pm and then a recorded show with footage at 9.30pm. The eviction will take place on tommorow's show.

So you arn't watching it yourself but hate it so much you want the people who are watching it not to watch it.

You do realise that if there were programmes on all the time that you want to watch you'd never leave the house!

Just dont watch it . There are programs I dont like, Eastenders for example, but I dont go into threads about them demanding they should be axed. Rolling Eyes

Neither do I normally, but its a personal opinion and although it may be surprisingly performing well in the ratings war, it has terrible reviews and I really think ITV should take drastic action and axe it for their own sake. Cheap rubbish like this should not be on a 50 year old terrestrial station, especially with the same churned out 'celebs' we see time and time again. If this was on five or Sky One etc for example then I could understand it, but I really think this is an embarrassing move for ITV what with Corrie writers getting annoyed as well.

You may not like EastEnders, but I'd like to know how you compare this to CLI. Rolling Eyes

Is everyone sitting down for this - you might want to...

The format which was to become Celebrity Love Island was rejected by Sky One a couple of years ago, because they thought it was TACKY! So who ends up taking on the idea? None other than Britain's original commercial network. Which says a lot.

But why does it bother you so much if you dont watch it? A lot of people watch this series so why should they axe it, especially as there is only just over a week to go.

I dont compare CLI to Eastenders because I dont watch EE. EE has had terrible reviews in the press over the last few years and most people have said its rubbish, but I dont go around saying axe it.
