I've said it before and I'll say it again... ITV are just constantly desperate this year! Rolling Eyes I saw Charles Allen on local news tonight - Grrr.... Evil or Very Mad

this year, you've obviously got a short memory what about all those high rating dramas and stuff that were on in January, February etc?
Since about May perhaps is more accurate

And what does "desperate" actually mean when it comes to a TV channel?

And what has Charles Allen got to do with it, I doubt he gets involved in the comissioning process at all, he's more concerned with the business end.

Right, From about May then...ok.

"Desperate" = in need of viewers/ratings etc.

Charles Allen = Chief executive of ITV - whoever he is, he is still head of the channel.

He isn't. ITV's controller of programmes is Nigel Pickard

Love Island outperforms Big Brother
Celebrity Love Island has beaten Big Brother in the reality show ratings.

The ITV dating show - panned by the critics - pulled in one million more viewers than its Channel 4 rival on Monday night.

Celebrity Love Island, featuring the likes of Abi Titmuss and Calum Best, had an average of 4.7 million while Big Brother managed just 3.7 million, according to unofficial overnight figures.

When the two shows went head-to-head between 10pm and 10.30pm, Celebrity Love Island was still 800,000 viewers ahead. It had 4.1 million viewers while Big Brother had 3.3 million.

not as bad as we may have thought, eh?

It's because of the scheduling. When BB goes head to head with CLI tonight it will very likely that BB will beat CLI. CLI had Corrie before it so it makes a lot of sense thaty people stuck with CLI rather than switching to BB. Did anybody else hear Richard on Richard & Judy saying that they'll be talking about CLI on tomorrows edition and that it was all kicking off. I got the impression that they weren't going to slate it and I'm surprised that Channel 4 are going to let them go ahead with this. Surely they would try their hardest to get all the ratings for BB as possible and this won't help things will it?

Why not its not as if ITV1 don't discuss Big Brother.

They don't!

I notice numerous reports today, presumably from ITV, that CLI is beating Big Brother in the ratings.

However, on the whole it's completly untrue. Big Brother thrashes CLI when they go head to head and taking the average ratings for the first week of BB as a whole, despite a couple of exceptions BB is getting something like a million more viewers than CLI - and is absolutely thrashing them in the crucial 16-34 share.

Yes they do GMTV talk about it most mornings and Paul o'Grady had Davina Mccall on his show to promote the show. So I would say ITV1 does its bit for Big Brother.

I've heard it mentioned on numerous occasions on regional ITV news, about housemates relevant to the local area, it's certainly featured on Calendar.

News just in from ITV1:

Tonight’s edition of Love Island has been cast into doubt because of a massive storm ravaging the Fijian Islands.

Over the last few days, the weather on Love Island has deteriorated rapidly.

Last night, the storm struck.

Six foot waves and 65-mph winds battered the Island, leaving both the celebrities and crew stranded.

An official ITV spokesperson sent us this report from Fiji:

‘The eye of a tropical storm has swept the Island resulting in power cuts and the residents on the Island being stranded. This means that the presenters, crews and production staff are unable to get on or off the Island.’

‘The storm has winds of up to 65mph causing rain to come through the roof, electricity cutting out for large periods of time, and producers are having to edit the show on the mainland.’

‘This does mean we might struggle to get Patrick and Kelly across to the island for the live show because the seas are too rough.’

‘If we can’t go ahead as normal, we’ll not be able to do an eviction either.’
