does BBC1 Scotland Still Broadcast Ceefax any more ( last I actuly show it was 18months ago! - yes I know BBC1 england hasn;t shown in years! )

Yes they do, I was hopping through the channels at 5.30am this morning and Ceefax was there in it's glory.
Although it's not listed, it's always on when BBC Two has nothing else to show and no Learning Zone, which is Friday and Saturday night now, so chance being it's on those nights usually between 3.00am and 6.00am or so.

Not normally. Unfortunately they don't broadcast "proper" music compilations either. Since the move from minidisc to an audio server in late 2005, only fragmented compilations are played and there are several tracks assigned as "link tracks" which appear every 20 minutes or so.
Also, all the music is now supplied by Funtastik Music, which means it is mostly mono-generic.
BBC1 Scotland were broadcasting Ceefax regularly during pre-Sign Zone gaps overnight (and with decent music, mostly sourced from Test Card Circle CDs). However, in recent weeks the preferred option has been News 24, even for just 15 minutes. You may have seen my rant about this in the BBC Scotland thread a few weeks ago.

Yup, whenever I've caught BBC 1 Scotland's Ceefax, the music has been quite a bit better than BBC 2's generic fare. Particularly liked it when they've had tracks from Man On A Roof playing as most of that bunch is very good IMO.
You'll never deliberately get tone broadcast, but I should think on occasion it can still happen for one reason or another!
On a Ceefax-related note, here's a still of an Election page as broadcast on BBC 2 in the small hours last night...
Spot the mistake!

What year are we supposed to be in?!
Yet, it seems all subsequent pages shown had a correct header.
That explains why I wouldn't have heard it recently - cheers for that bit of info.

What will happen to
Pages from Ceefax
after DSO? Ceefax remains pretty much on BBCI, so will we now get
Pages from BBCi
?
What I'd really like to see is something like BBC World's breakfiller from 2000-2003, based on one of BBC2's idents, showing information from BBCi or the BBC website.

As I've said before, the reason I think we still get Ceefax is because it is purpose-built for the downtime role, whereas BBCi is not. Ceefax has full-screen pages which automatically turn over at pre-determined intervals.
To have Pages from BBCi the system would need to display the pages full screen (ie. no TV window) and be able to turn them over without the need for a human being to sit there pressing "left" for up to two hours a night! Automation does have its uses...

That's why I think a BBC World-style breakfiller would be in order. Text from Ceefax/BBCi could be superimposed over a close-up of the 2 (ie before it zooms out), and then to fill in between slides, the ident could zoom out and then back in. This might work well on Mirror, which is a good ident for the night time.
