It may have past a few people but Ceefax is still going out on BBC One Scotland, ( even if its only for 18mins)

It does not seem to be have been advertised but it went out at 02.05 - 02.22, using the 2003 tape, ( is that the same one with the Tarrent on tv theme on it)

How long till it goes from BBC2 network, wouldn't have thought it would survive London DSO but then again I wouldn't have thought it would survive until 2012!!

There's no technical reason that it shouldn't carry on in-vision until it ceases to exist completely, whenever that is.

I'd have thought they'll keep it going until the last analogue service ends and then quietly turn it off. I can't imagine it's actually costing anything to produce, it'll all be automatically converted from digital text

It depends who's on shift, but sometimes you even get the "CEEFAX 1" version rather than "CEEFAX 2".

The generator in London which does Pages from Ceefax for BBC Two is fed from a distribution, not off-air feed, so will continue after Crystal Palace DSO.

'Man On A Roof' - excellent disc!

Yes, I had thought this was the case - thanks for the confirmation.

Yep, I assume they just feed it up a line to Glasgow?

So I presume they'll use BBC I pages come April 2012, shame that Ceefax & the remainder of Teletext will go come April 2012, seeing as they've both been going for over 30 years & ten years ago were still rather popular (Bamboozle anyone?)

Glasgow generate it themselves from the sustaining feed, apparently.

Is Ceefax not staying on air until Northern Ireland ASO in October?

Will the BBC broadcast no text service at all come digital switch over or will page 100 point people to www.bbc.co.uk or something similar? New TVs are still being sold with text facilities so it should do something when people press the text button. I presume subtitles will still be available on 888 too.

Yes, they've been broadcasting a digital text service under various names since about 1999!

I don't think it's been announced yet. Obviously if it hasn't finished by then it will have to!
