Well, I've just got back from Miami and after watching the TV over there I saw an advert for something called CD:USA, I wonder what that could be?

But in this case, America haven't exactly 'taken' the format and changed it - CD:USA is being made by the same production company as CD:UK and even has the same Executive Producer!

American TV do pretty well out of UK formats such as this.

What annoys me more is American networks making versions of UK comedies and dramas - The Office is the best example of recent years, while they've also remade Teachers (though in a 30-min comedy format).

I'd personally rather see US networks screen the originals - but I guess censorship on US Television prevents that. I don't know if they have restrictions on imports as well?

easy....

The Upper Hand UK version of Who's The Boss?

Brighton Belles UK version of The Golden Girls (BB was a real big massive flop - no wonder being made by Carlton - pre-Central buyout!)

Family Fortunes UK version of Family Feud
Play Your Cards Right UK version of Card Sharks
Wheel Of Fortune
The Pyramid Game
The Price Is Right
Supermarket Sweep
Jeopardy!
Sweethearts
The Gladiators
New Faces
Opportunity Knocks

and many many more...

But US networks/indepedents do make many of their version of British series for example....

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
The Weakest Link
Fawlty Towers
The Grimley's
The Office
Spooks
Teachers
X-Factor
Pop Idol
etc....

US > UK

Hand On A Hardbody >>> Touch The Truck

Plus Johnny Vaughn / Jonathan Ross copying the Tonight / Late show format for chat shows (interaction with house band, desk)

UK > US
I'll just add some names for some programmes:

Fawlty Towers became "Payne" with the characters becoming Royle Payne, Constance (as in constant) Payne, Manuel became Mo (a Mexican), Polly became Breeze. Episodes ripped off include Gourmet Night.

Steptoe and Son became Sanford and Son.

Pop Idol as we know became American Idol.

The Office became The Office An American Workplace.

CBS 60 Minutes became Tonight with Trevor McDonald (well ITV paid money for the format rights)

Actually it's just "The Office", it was given the sub-title by BBC Three in order to make sure it wasn't confused in the schedules.
