Does anyone know if Dave Berry will be a feature of the new look. Since Cat left he seemed to take on the role of main presenter but hasn't been on for a few weeks.
The last 2 weeks of shows have been car crash tv as far as the presenters go.
We're presuming, from all this, that neither BBC or ITV can come up with a decent, or straightforward enough, format for a television music show featuring live performances, then? Nor have the ability to take a "risk" ( ) to show it at a decent time of day/week.
There is no need to lump CD:UK and TOTP in together. CD:UK is just getting a new look to freshen it up a bit. Considering it has had the same look for years and with mostly the same features its well past due. It's not being buried in a graveyard slot on another channel
I think the show needs to return back to its roots- actually have a conenction with the charts! When the show first started, the charts were heavily instrumental in what was played. Now, they barely feature at all, all we see is the countdown, even the Number 1 is frequently ommited. And even when it isn't, often they shove on the video and only show around 30 seconds. When it was the Crazy Frog, it was understandable why it was omitted- I'd rather gauge out my eyes with a corkscrew and fill my ears with hot wax than listen to it again- and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way (enen TMF skipped it when they ran their "every Number one 1990-2005" thing a couple of weeks back). But when there's real talent like James Blunt, it's inexcusable that it should be omitted (or just a 30 second clip shown) just so they can show us McFly's new video or whatever.
Then again, I haven't watched CD:UK much recently. A combination of the inconveniant Sunday showing, and the fact that the show has tumbled downhill in quality since SM:TV was axed.
I was also a big fan of the Chart Show, as I was of ITV's entire Saturday morning lineup a few yonks back. But when they draft the new Big B winner straight in to co-present with some nameless tottie from Corrie, then there's a threesome innuendo joke regarding t.A.T.u., I think a show has lost its way. Kill it now, bring back a presenterless, Commodore64-styled show.
Theoritcally, they could bring back The Chart Show. They run their own channel now, and it did briefly return to Channel 4 in Janaury 2003, and they do make B4 which airs on Channel 4 on weekday mornings. ITV could recomission The Chart Show if they wanted to. And in all reality, a show like that works better than a live show with presenters and guests, as there's little chance of the show drifting away from its format, and there's no chance of having poor features, presenters and acts as there aren't any. And no teenage girls screaming over the songs either.
