They'll keep showing them? It's a joint venture between Chellozone and CBS, so there will be a little bit of both I'd imagine.

I repeat the notion about the late night talk shows. I love Letterman's show. TV over here has been poorer without Dave. Hopefully CBS can show ITV and Diva TV (and even Sky before them) what they're missing.

CBS: Welcome home (even though you've never set up home in the UK until now!).

And Paramount and the BBC... It's a shame but if it's been tried by so many broadcasters and not worked it's unlikely to next time too

When did the BBC have long term rights to the Late Show with David Letterman? The only time I can
recall Letterman being on the BBC, was the week of special shows taped in London back in 1995
that were aired on BBC2 the week after their UK premiere on Sky.

The only other "Late Show" on BBC2 was the arts program of the same name from the 1980's.

Yep the only time the BBC showed it was in 1995 when they aired the London shows on BBC2 from the south bank.

More info has emerged about the CBS channels from the waveguide news website. All very imaginative stuff ... not but nice to see anyway, I'm not sure where the Late show could fit though? mayber Reality?

Quote:
CBS Reality, CBS Action and CBS Drama channels are to launch in the UK on November 16 via the US network's recent deal with Chellomedia, it was confirmed today.

The joint venture will signal the first time CBS-branded channels have operated outside of the US and comprises six EPG slots: Zone Reality and +1 will become CBS Reality and +1; Zone Romantica will become CBS Drama; and Zone Thriller will become CBS Action. The Zone Horror channel and its +1 will remain as it is for now.

Programming, taken from CBS’s 70,000-hour library, includes Judge Judy and Dr Phil on CBS Reality, Dynasty on CBS Drama, air military thriller Jag and the original Star Trek series on CBS Action.

The channels will be carried by BSkyB, Virgin Media and the free-to-view FreeSat service.

Rumour is there'll be a CBS Comedy channel added early next year, so perhaps we won't see the Late Show until then.

I hope it will be on CBS Reality though.

Shame CBS doesn't release some more programming information.

Yes, that was what I was thinking of

I somehow don't think one American late night talk show missing of UK TV screens make tv as a whole poorer here.

As much as I like watching US late night talk shows now and again, they just don't work over here for a good sized audience. Our channels seem to have Dave on for a one year contract only to be bumped off to another channel or never to be seen for a while.

Absolutely. I spent a while across the pond last year and my favourite habit I got into was watching the late night talk shows. However i just don't think they work over here.

Firstly normally the only bit of a US talk show worth watching is the first half hour - the interviews aren't usually as good as the gags unless it's a real landmark interview... which are rare. Most of the guests are people that only the real Yankophile wouldn't say 'who' to. Even the first half is mostly lost on a British audience, unless you're over there taking in the news and events a lot of it just goes right over your head, especially as a British channel will only show it the day afterwards.

It would be great to have a home grown version but it's been tried so many times and every one has failed, mainly due to comparisons with the originals in the US - once that comparison is made then they just can't live up to it
