Ten News only airs at 5pm now, so the studio is free all morning. If they did air a morning news programme they'd probably just do it out of Melbourne rather than Sydney in this situation.

They were publishing updates online during the day, I dont know if that still happens, but they were tight close up shots at the top and bottom of the updates.

That reminds me of...

What if you have a news update that lasts under a minute and a very closed up shot of a presenter? This happens only in Japan and the newscast is called Shot Gun. It aired in the late 1980s on Fuji TV and has at least four editions a day.

This morning Studio 10 launched it's new studio and set. No newcast studio article yet so I've linked some tweets showing the set.

There is also a new style to the graphics which are same layout but slightly tidier than before. As for the set - I like it and the set behind the main desk looks great. Seems a bit strange to have a working newsroom behind you then block it off but apart from that it works well. I'll try and find some more articles etc. to link.

EDIT - Found a video of the opener.

Would be odd though to have a working newsroom in view behind Loose Women or This Morning, so from that point of view blocking it off makes sense. Looks a crap show to go and watch live though - they seem to be hosting it around the corner from the audience.

And shame on Channel 9 not just for refusing a female co-host of a decade pay parity but also bumping her off screen with immediate effect after such long service. Might be understandable if she was going to a rival breakfast show (Susanna Reid never left Breakfast on screen after all!) but considering she's going to primetime on another network they could at least let her see out the week.

That's very true, but Studio 10 was already in a perfectly fine studio without a newsroom backdrop so I was only really questioning why the move needed to take place at all. They also seemed to have more audience seating in the old studio. I do agree that it is a weird one to watch live, it's like GMB, Loose Women and cooking segments all in one program. They have done some good stuff over the years though such as when the show was extended to 5:00pm to cover the Sydney hostage situation.

As for Lisa Wilkinson it is a weird situation. It is certainly a shame that she won't get to do a last leaving show and I hope they don't try to sweep it under the carpet on todays edition which I believe to be hosted by Deborah Knight. Whether it will affect ratings for them is another issue since the relationship between herself and Karl is part of the pull.

Cost-cutting basically - they're vacating their studio to make room for Family Feud (and possibly other shows) moving from Melbourne to Sydney.

A heartfelt goodbye to Lisa Wilkinson from the Today Show team:

Just a shame that the bosses obviously didn't feel the same.

I wonder if the take over by CBS will result in 10 reinstating some of the axed news programs from the last 2 years, 1 news program a day is hardly substantial

You're forgetting 'The Project' too.

The Project is more a discussion forum than direct hard news and they follow each other with no new at any other part of the day mornings or night time, it’s hardly any wonder Ten struggle with ratings
