Should CBeebies rebrand?

Let's be honest they deserve one. (June 2016)

Should CBeebies rebrand? After all, they've had the bugs for far too long.

don't think the audience will appreciate the change. Might be better off spending the money on the programmes

I wouldn't say it feels particularly stale. You'd probably find a lot of their viewers like the bugs and getting rid of them could lead to some very unhappy children. But as jackhendo says, for a channel that most people just leave their kids to watch, it'd be a waste of time and money for something they wouldn't really appreciate.

I think we all know if any BBC channels need to rebrand its One & Two. CBeebies is fine. Young children will like the bugs and the channel has become a brand in its own right and a sudden change could have an impact on that.

It should be noted the pres on the channel has been updated, ie new bug sting or birthday songs etc So its not like there just left the stuff for the past 10 year

Besides which, it's typical viewer will only be watching for five or six years, then new viewers arrive and see pres they've never seen before. Viewers for mainstream channels like BBC One and BBC Two last for far longer.

Don't think they'll even be watching it for that long, the channel's aimed at under six's and I doubt many under the age of two at the latest will be interested in the TV never mind the channel. Most under two's sleep for like 15hrs a day as it is, where are they going to find time to watch? Smile

But with regard to the original question, I think evolution rather than revolution would be the way forward. Rather than ripping all the bugs out to replace them with, I dunno, ladybirds or something, just move the presentation on to keep it looking fresh without it being too radical a change. I note from 623058's post the stings get changed on occasion, that's fine. The overall look still isn't too bad 14 years on, it doesn't need a major overhaul.

That being said, Sesame Street has ran for years on the same format, template and theme tune, only changing the titles and the bits inbetween on occasion, and a full-blown format refresh fairly recently, and it's still on air, if not in this country.

15 hours a day.... I wish!

Anyway, one problem with rebranding Cbeebies is that lots of its shorter programmes like the stories contain the yellow blobs.

I really don't think it needs a change for change sake, it's perfectly fine as it is
